OT: Kauai must-hit places
Hi all,
I will be in Kauai for ~a week. I will be free for 2 nights or so. Would someone here please tell me what are some of the local restaurants and places I should visit? Prefer local hang-outs.
thank you very much in advance!

Thank you, IS2Scooby; would you have any restaurant names, local hangouts for recommendation? I've browsed through some of the travel sites as well, they mostly recommand tours, sight seeings, or tourist spots. Anything local that you can suggest?
Thanks once again.
Thanks once again.

I have a friend that is a Kauai native. I'll ask her where the "hot spots" are.

if you haven't been on any tours there, ... there are some good ones to go on. They're not cheezy like I would think 'most tours' would be.
I enjoyed just driving around the island, stopping in where I saw something I liked. One day, I spent the day along the north shore, the next day I went along the south shore. And then the following days I went to places I picked out on the first couple days. There was Plenty to do and beautiful sights to see!

I don't think driving the minvan rental is fun in Kauai... maybe I can go rent a WRX? Can I actually rent a Subaru in Kauai?
Thanks for all your help... save me time!

OK I been there:
1. That big azz canyon/valley thingie that you have to sort of hike to get to the really good view. It's awesome and if you walk down the valley you can find all the weed smokers camped out.
2. There's this cave that has water in it and you can swim in and walk into the cave. I didn't get to go in but did get to swim in the pool at the entrance to it...was cold.

there's sum drag racing on the weekend all the way on the west side. not too sure wat town its called, but you have to pass Kekaha. keep driving on the main road until you see the load of sked marks on the road. you won't miss it. they hold it around 1 in the morning.
