I think it's a compliment that there's doubt because it means that it's hard to imagine nice street cars getting nuts. I guess it's implied that your car is nice so you're nuts for wanting to make it not nice.

I think though we've already aired enough of the doubts and cautions already, so let's try to stay somewhat positive. We want to support anyone trying to increase motorsports in Hawaii.

I still haven't seen recommendations for setups and preparations or what others auto-xers would do to prepare. Seems like if the track is tame enough there's not much to do. It all depends on specific course. Thoughts? Examples..

Heard some discussion before about knowing but haven't seen anything posted yet about a setup.

What I plan to do is just basically "armorize" my car by picking up skidplates and mudflaps. In addition Ill probably look for stock suspension to swap in and use my stock wheels/tires. More info can be found on dirtyimpreza forums.

oh and i never said i would be good at it but sure would love to give it a try!!! thats why i was asking for pointers(other than you shouldnt use your sti)
I meant legally buddy. Since you know, we're all about legal motorsports here and anything but is apparently frowned upon . Like I said take my comment with a grain of salt. I mean if you guys do what you do and know you do it, my opinion on the subject shouldn't matter. BTW thanks for not threatening me through PM's like others felt the need to.

I'll say it again, I'm not planning to rally my WRX.

Trying to look into how to setup up one of these now. I'm buying one eventually regardless if RallyX comes or not, but if it comes, then yeah. Haha

Yea I drove through kailua last night pretty big potholes that I couldn't see till last minute. Not to mention I had rims/tires that are too big and kept rubbing over every bump.

Anyway I'd take you up on that offer for a ride. But no need for barf bags I can handle my own.

Oh and don't think I'm against this whole rally-x movement. I think it's great I just wanna see how much people will actually show and do it.

Perhaps we need a bit more information about the classes and such, perhaps with sample setups as well posted here to attract some interest.
I guess right now if you're interested you have to read the other forums to lear n the rules and classes.

From reading the site very quickly, it looks like there's a wide variety, and if you clicked on the youtube links I posted earlier, some of the classes and courses actually look actually pretty tame---to the point where it may not be as fun to photograph as one would think (could be wrong).

In some cases, it doesnt even look like skidplates are necesary. It all depends on how fast you go I guess.

I just want to remind people this is supposed to be fun and we started this grass roots style so that the atmosphere would be conductive to getting noobs (including myself) out there.

No one is expected to show up with a rallied out car and kick butt.

A few of us will be flying out to FRX base in either San Fran or L.A for training in a few months. If anyone is interested or wants more details LMK at reddirtrallycross@gmail.com. No experience is necessary but keep in mind this is a commitment, although a really fun one : )
