Poor organization lead to me missing out on my ride.
Nate told me that it would be best to get there 2 hours before my ride. Ride was originally 1p, but a few days prior they changed it on my 'email ticket' to 11:15a; no sweat.
I got there at 9:15a. Nate had called me about a half hour before that to tell me that he and Jorge were keeping me a place in the 11:15a line, so when I got there, I was first in line.
I watched the last few laps of the 9-10a rides, then some CTS-v laps, then some Altezza laps, then some C6, S4, RS4, GTO... I was in line from 9:15-11:00a when Petter and his entourage showed up again in order to sign autographs and tell us that he had to catch a flight (which I guess they must not have known about before. )
My consolation was a ride in a C6 (finally at around 12:15p) with some dude who was obviously a better driver than myself, but who was trying to drift...pretty horrendously. You know, that more than made up for waiting in line for 3 hours and missing out on a ride with one of the best racer car drivers on the planet, in the '06 STI.
What a day.
ps. oh yeah, and I broke my 2.5 RS yesterday. It's obviously something due to wear. Something in the rear end or right rear hub. Something that will almost certainly be expensive to fix.
yay

Here are some pictures from today:
Jorge, first in line...
That picture was taken at about 8 AM. It was already clear not all of the 9 AM people were going to get rides.

I think that last picture is one of the coolest. I'm not sure who that is in the Audi, but it's cool to see pros who normally would never have a chance to meet get together and shoot the ****.
Definitely jealous of you guys that had the opportunity to be there. Too bad about the scheduling difficulties, Pat.
