Get a Fumoto Oil Drain Valve and forget about the crush washers fo'evah.
I order my oil filters from SubaruParts.com. They charge $4.95 for the OEM filter. Their site is a little weird to navigate, but most parts are priced right. I bought 8 filters and the shipping charge for Priority Mail from them (WA) to me (CA) was ~$8.50. I also bought the set of factory service manuals from them.

Fram USED to be great - had a whole bunch of problems with their latest filters. My friends who work in aftermarket parts say to stay away and buy the OEM filters is $ is no object...
