are the forums gonna cover your warranty when you tell the dealer you used the wrong grade? if your worried about warranty you oil cap tells you the weight of the oil you need to use.
in your book it states that turbo car needs to have a oil changed every 3750miles or 3.5 months..... in hawaii with "extreme climate" the dealer recommends every 3 months or 3k miles..... amsoil if fine and good but still need to follow the recommend intervals to keep warranty if your worried

"Subaru has published Service Bulletin # 02-103-07 that identifies a factory design related problem with premature clogging of the oil mesh screen located inside the oiling system that supplies the turbo charger on all model turbo charged cars. A clogged screen will result in oil starvation and turbo charger failure. Subaru has since published Service Bulletin #02-110-10R indicating that 2010 MY and prior turbocharged engines continue to require oil and filter change intervals of 3,750 miles (6,000 km) or 3 3/4 months, while all 2011 MY turbocharged engines have returned to the original requirement of 7,500 miles (12,000 km) or 7 1/2 months, and they are required to use synthetic oil. Due to the issues outlined in this document, AMSOIL recommends following Subaru drain interval recommendations"

Not necessarily true...

so here is my question on this topic (from the graveyard at that)...
can you take the banjo/screen from a 2011 WRX/STi and fit it onto an earlier (ie. 2006) WRX/STi?
if yes, that would solve the shorter oil change intervals and greatly reduce the chances of the problem occurring.

No the alignment was off when I drove it off the lot. Took it in to get the car aligned properly. After receiving the car, the Steering wheel was crooked. Took the car back in to the dealership to correct that, but the car is still not aligned since I dropped it, taking it to Island break and alignment once my spacers come in.
