Ohlins Fixed Perch struts on my 04 STi

I finally got my car back with the Ohlins fixed perches with JDM Pinks, RCE camber plates, and Whiteline bars with Group-N rear mounts.

Immediately after getting on the road, the ride is noticeably improved. No more bobble head and the handling is so much more controlled and compossed. No more bouncing and oscillation like the OEM struts.

I'm running negative 2.0 degrees camber and the new struts allow mid corner adjustments that I wasn't able to do with the OEM setup.

These struts are the real deal. BTW my car is a DD 90% of the time and does a monthly SCCA Solo race in Street Modified. These struts are everything they are advertised.

I was very skeptical whether they would justify their $2k price tag, but one drive in my car showed me they were worth every penny.

you'll want to break them in slowly. make sure they are on conservatively soft for the first 500-1000 miles. this way the valves will seat correctly. you will notice increased performance afterwards. good things come to people who wait

nice Risk3233,... that'll be my next investment...
I'll be keeping my eye on this thread to see your further reviews of the struts

The struts are set on "5" from the softest out of 25 clicks of adjustment. My next Solo race isn't until the 26th so I'll have time to log in some miles before the event.

It's hard to believe, but the ride has improved over my OEM struts so much that the car has changed completely. It's one of those things where you have to ride on them to believe how good they are.

Updates to follow. BTW the strut "clunk" is obviously gone...forever.

Oh yeah...the car felt more comfortable with 40 psi tire pressure front and rear (my tech inflated them to that for alignment purposes) with the Ohlins than it did at my older 37 psi with the OEM setup.

I didn't realize the tires were at 40 psi until my tech called me after I got home and told me to reduce the pressure.

Sounds like an awesome setup! Did you get the lowering RCE camber plates? Just curious how the ride height came out with that setup. Any pics?

I've read a lot of good things about the Ohlins. Good to know it's true, coming from someone local.

I have the lowering RCE plates with the STi Pinks. I'll shoot some pix this weekend.

Very happy with the ride.

BTW I also installed SS brake lines and it also improved the brake feel.

yea i just got my alignment perfect today. -2 in the front and -1.75 in the rear. man what a difference!! coupled with the new rack and ball joint extenders it is definately amazing. haven't really gotten a chance to rip it yet but i'm going to dial down the dampening on my coilovers and give it a go tomorow. glad to hear you like your new setup and look forward to the pics. Play time is obviously over. Congrats! Thats a well thought out suspension, to be sure. Also curious as to how the ride height is now...

I'm waiting on some settling. We installed the struts and relubed the sway bar bushings as well as did an alignment. I've only put on about 100 miles on the struts, so I'll wait a little bit before shooting pix.

I have the Ohlins as well and they're great but I haven't quite got the dampening down yet. My are 32 way adjustable. What way gives the softest ride for DD?

On my DD setting, I'm at 5 from the softest out of 25. When I do Solo, I'm sure I'll be at the higher end. Right now 5 is spot on for DD.

And to go all the way soft you turn it all the way counter clockwise under the car right?

I believe so. The instructions were in all Japanese. Although i am 75% I could only make out the front and rear kanji. (Luckey for Ed) When the adjusters were turned to the right I couldent compress the struts at all. And as far I the pics, I should have taken some. Their damn pretty. And i can also testify for the quality of these products. I've installed them on Lotuses? etc. and they've always impressed me. I guess you get what you pay for. Driver feedback is unparalled with anything I've driven on a Sti so far. As much as or equal to my 10kg 8kg cusco zero2r set up, but you dont get the shake you fillings out ride. Good pick ED. Did you tell everyone how you almost sent them back. LOL. Just my two cents.
