ohairi ohairi! tasukete kudasai!

"come in come in! please help me"

Well i bought a Clifford alarm with remote start. and was asking around places for an install quote. some of then said since its a 5speed they wont even install it, other quoted me $200-400 not including other parts needed.

*clears throat*
So~ anyone here want to help me install my alarm? of course you will be compensated for your services.

thanks,
Taka

if it's a remote start alarm... have them install the alarm and it'll still do the remote start if you hold down the clutch and activate the RS through the remote. Then you can look for how to bypass the clutch sensor for RS. They won't install it since it'll be a liability for them if you happen to RS your car and it's in gear and hits another car or causes damage to other things. You can do some research online as stated on how to bypass the clutch switch and also connect a relay or two to the neutral position switch on the transmission. It'll take sometime but this is the safer way to do it if you want remote start.

good luck

i dont really see a big deal with the auto start...it's mostly for the cool factor, of course it serves a few good uses i guess.

n yes most shops wont install it....however there are a few that will you just have to find them...like jon said also check online....

good luck

would it be the same if it has a 02 tranny?

Sounds simple enough. I just ask them to install the alarm and leave the remote start stuff alone. Then wire the stuff after.

it shouldn't be that difficult... I'm trying to figure out how to do it on mine. We may have to put a relay into reverse the neutral position switches output from negative to positive. The RS is integrated into the alarm so when the alarm is installed the RS portion is installed as well but they won't put what is necessary for it to work completely (which is the relay and the wiring). My car was automatic before and my RS worked fine. Once It because it's JDM counterpart and 6MT now I have to depress the clutch and use the remote and the car starts. If I don't depress the clutch it goes through the sequence but won't start since the clutch switch isn't bypassed. The neutral position sensor relay is for safety and a way for the car NOT to start if it's in gear. If it's in neutral then the RS will work. Our hookup should be similar unless you're using the 98 bulkhead harness. It has nothing to do with the transmission itself

In Hawaii yeah, back in Utah it rocked. Being able to start your car 5 min before you go outside = warm heater and no freezing.

I use mine to warm up my engine since driving right after starting the engine isn't that good due to internal engine parts not having the proper lubrication if the car is cold and has been parked for a while

i dont know about rs but as long as there's a neutral position wire(sti has it on ecm), it'll be cake...it saved me from ramming into garage door many times. dont risk running it without some kind of safety for remote starting, i've seen people run their car over curbs.

maybe you can talk to actual installers and see if they'll do it on the side.

why waste you time with a relay jon? if you use the output from the alarm to trigger a repplay to bypass the clutch it will still start in gear. find the harness for the clutch kill and connect the 2 wire together it will start anytime.then take the neutral postion from the ecu and hook it up to the hood input for your alarm so when your car is in gear it will send a negative trigger to you hood input and the car wnt start

another way to solve not starting in gear is to use the aalrm as a turbo timer and make sure you always use it and never valet or let someone park your car

The relay is just for safety and also so that I don't damage the integrity of the alarm since i had it installed by someone that warranties hes work for life. my parents move my car over the weekend if i'm not up to do it myself and they leave it in gear when finished.

the neutral safety switch is so that it won't start without being in neutral
