Now that this has happened - new project
Since enough people out there know already, and a few more just found out today.
My car was totaled in an accident a week ago. Luckily there were no serious injuries and no other vehicles involved (aside from getting less than an hour of sleep that night).
I am a firm believer now that Subarus are some of the safest cars on the road. Any other car would have had a shattered windshield (at the least) and definitely more front-end damage. The way the body absorbed the impact definitely says wonders about the engineering of the car. I am VERY happy the way the car held up.
Now that I've cleared everything up with insurance and bought the car back as salvaged, the guys at Vakamon have started ripping her apart for my new project. For the moment, there will be no parting out of anything.
I'm not going to go into how/why/where it happened, so please don't even ask. But here are the pictures:
The car taken the day after:

And today at Vakamon:
This incident puts alot into perspective, especially all those door-dings I kept getting
I guess this will be the start of my "Ongoing Projects" thread.

It sucks to see the car in that condition, but it will breath again.
And it completely did what it was supposed to do... absorb the impact so the people in it don't.
Subarus rock.
