No More Post Whoring
Did you guys read and comprehend the subject line? GOOD... If you didn't, you'll find out what it means. And BTW...If there is a lot of whoring for stupid reasons ("I'm bored", "Iwant an avitar", I"Ilike to see my name up and down the board"), I can have your post count erased and you can start back from "0"...

Erase my post count and kick me off for all I care.
Joey, are you cracking down for a purpose? Is there no more idle chit chat? I never knew that there were rules for the HIIC beyond NO racist and sexist (ok, maybe not sexist ) statements. I can understand where you might want to limit the subject matter in a 'transmission' or a 'brakes and suspension' forum. What is it that I'm doing wrong, because I have a high post count. Shoot, maybe besides the Bay Area guys, hardly anyone is on the I-club besides us. The next closest is So Cal but they have posted a little less than 15% as often as we do, note the image below.
Dude, this forum has been so surprisingly helpful and enjoyable for me. Please tell me what it is we're doing wrong? Are you reacting to some specific rules being broken or are you getting pressure from some socialistic politburo to crack down on us?
I think there should be a list of what's ok to talk about and what's not. I think that in accordance with the rules I know of (which are pretty minimal) that we have been pretty law abiding. Supposedly, we aren't supposed to talk about anything technical in here (even though we do, I know.) That leaves the question, then: what are we allowed to talk about? Maybe I don't understand what the phrase 'post whoring' really means.
Seriously, I know I'm being a problem by saying this, but I honestly don't understand. Has something changed?
As far as posting technical stuff in here vs. in the technical forums, you know why we don't do that. I want to post my technical questions in a place where I know I'll get an answer from someone who I am certain knows their way around a car. If I were to post a tranny question in the tranny forum, I might get an answer from our crew, but I will also have to sort through a bunch of errata posted by people whom I don't know from adam.
Erase this if you like. PM me to shut me up, but just know that I don't understand and therefore am a little up in arms. It just don't seem right.
And Jon, I seriously don't understand where you're coming from.

Nicely stated Pat...
Don't worry about what I'm getting at since it doesn't play any importance in the matter.... While we are on the subject why is it that my "post whoring" gets noticed so easily when others that clearly post a lot more than I do in this forum about practially NOTHING gets away with it! I rarely post (if you can see this by the amount of post that I have compared to others) and if I do post (in most cases except last night since I wanted an avatar) it's to comment on what OTHER PEOPLE HAD ALREADY STARTED!
Also... I think that this post is related DIRECTLY TO ME since 2 of the 3 examples that you have given is what I have posted.
"I'm Bored" was a post that I posted with a movie clip of my 1/4 run. Everyone else posts movies I don't see why my post was inappropriate since my post has to do with motorsports! was it in the wrong forum?
Yes I do want an avatar image and I don't think that my small amount of posting last night even dented the high amount of post that go on this board daily!
Do what you choose with MY post count! I really don't care... Since there are stipulations on who can have an avatar image why is it a crime to add a very small amount of post to my count to make me that much closer?
I guess that "Post Whoring" in a public forum NEEDS alot more attention than REAL issues... like when a service station abuses a customers car... but lets not go there again since it isn't something important that all SUBARU owners should know about!

Jon, I hope you didn't take this as being directed at you. I don't have any knowledge about the topics you're referring to. I know that there isn't a thing wrong with posting a vid of your 1320 pass. I downloaded it.
I know a little about the fallout about your car but I wasn't referring to that at all.
I didn't know that you had to post so many times in order to get an avatar. I'm deleting mine.

Hmm, I guess I have PWd in the past, but mostly my too high post count is because of the hundreds of questions I used to ask. Anytime I got a bug up my azz about something I "wanted" to do to a car I didnt even have I would ask about it. I know this got tiring hence the reason I rarely start posts anymore. I prefer to actually do some research (what a concept) offline before asking in the forum. I would actually really like to have my post count at 0 again, its silly to have such a high post count and have contributed relatively little to the forum. Oh well...

Joey, you sure sound like a jerk in your post.
Is there something else bugging you?
Did Alex tell you to crack down on us?
Or are you doing your monthly power trip?
Regardless, I think the HIIC has a good balance. I think we have an equalibrium and we are used to seing things the way we see it. I don't think you'll find too many people agree with your "new vision" of i-club.
Many of us find great entertainment in Richards posts. Many of which could easily be considered "Post Whoring". Most of which have NOTHING to do with Subarus.
If I'm wrong, so be it. However, I don't think I am.

Pat said it perfectly...... I persanally post things "specific" to a forum( twice ).... whever it is relevant, and here....and 100% of the time, the HI forum gives me better and more accurate feedback.....and these are from people I have one: already met, or two: will most likely meet in the near future! And I think that is awesome.... being a car enthusiast myself; I am always down to congregate with other people with similar interests.
And for richard's outgoing posts....(this dude is my neighbor and I haven't even met the guy YET)...they are downright hilarious sometimes....every board has their so called "forum clown" that serves as the joker of the bunch...and makes it fun to surf the boards.... I know when i was on clubsi. and the rx-7 board, there were a few guys just like richard, and everyone liked them
so ditchhanger: please let us "play nicely" and keep the general atmosphere of this forum the same..... ...my . 02- Jeremy

As long as you play good, you can play. At the same time, its Joey's call. I gave him authority in here and I will not interfer.
However, do not post tech questions here. Post them in tech forums. Thats a must.

Joey,
I want to make absolutely certain that you understand that I know YOU are the moderator, and I don't want anyone else doing the job. Whatever you say, goes, and it's just like anything else; if I don't like the rules that you impose, I know I can just log off, but I don't think I will because I like it just fine here. It's just that your edict this morning really surprised me. I couldn't figure out what might have made you so pissed off.
I don't have any problems with you personally and as a moderator...I just wish I could drive as good as you do.
Anyhow, I'd imagine that you might feel like everyone is groaning and complaining; and you might feel like it's directed towards you but that's what sucks about being the boss. I would ask, if there is something you specifically don't want to be discussed on here or there's a certain way in which you want folks to post, just let us know, because right now, what I'm understanding you as saying is 'keep your post count low, or else'.

I don't think like Joey sounded like a jerk at all in his post.
Joey, you're in charge. When people get together there will be conflict, and there needs to be direction/moderation. You da man there, Dawg.
Pat, I don't see Joey saying "keep your post count low, or elsse" at all...
Maybe I'm just addled from last night's final round?
