Newbie. 2011 WRX - scraping parking exits...

Hi All. New here.. and just picked up an '11 WRX - which I love Only bummer so far has been scraping the front underside of fender when exiting two parking lots... One in downtown, another near Marukai at Ward. Anything I can do to save the front end from getting chewed up (other than avoiding the scene of the crime )

wassup mike! (shaggy here) angles angles angles........ one thing with the new wrx's is that there lower to the ground compared to your old wrx. also you may want to go slower to.

where on the bottom is it hitting? can you post some pics so we can tell you haw you may have to take these parking exits? it may also be hitting the hook on the bottom.

Hey Shaggy... Howzit!

Yeah, took it at an angle and way slow too. Still no luck. Guess I just need to add those two parking lots to my black list

Ward is a tough parking lot, but I used to drive my wagon in there no probs. Granted it wasn't slammed (Like Charles' STi....haha), but it was pretty low and I had a V-Limited lip too. It's all in the angle. Think Honda days at Pearl Ridge or Ala Moana beach park.

Cool. Guess I'll work on getting my angles right or hoofing it further from flat land.

just runumhard.

Nah, everybody here has pretty much summed it up. Ward sucks, the easiest one to get in there (for me at least) is the entrance by menchies. And even that requires some proper planning.

Ward is definitely a bad parking lot take it slow. I use the same entries and exits if your going to somewhere near borders or D&B park across the street but use the spaghetti factory entry. Or sports authority I use the entry By the fish taco restaurant. Hope this helps

This pretty much sums it up.
I had absolutely no problems at Ward, but then again, I ran stock suspension on my '02 WRX.

And to OP, just do like me, scrape everything! Seriously, I can't stand babying my car over dips and bumps, it's one reason I will NEVER "slam" my car. If it scrapes the bottom of the bumper, so what? If you can't see the damage without looking, it doesn't bother me. I have an 11 too BTW.

Mike,
I didn't know you actually picked one up. Congrats! Another friend of mine just picked up a 2011 STI 5dr in that purplish color. So when will I see you at auto-x?

Add to the angle suggestion, you may want to take the right speed. It'll take practice unfortunately, but eventually you get it.

It is just the disadvantage of the Subaru platform.
