one of my friends has one... exact same year. she has like 144,000 miles... its a turd now. parts are very expensive and a little hard to come by. i must say though- you can't beat european construction- even after all these years her doors are so solid. i remember they did a comparo between that and the 300Z-
pretty much fair test.

i like the selling point, "system remains funtional even if all the whels are in the air!"

great minds think alike. i've always wanted this car. i love the body styling and chassis design. if you get one, i'll definitely be jealous. if you're really serious, i know someone who has 944. i'm sure he'd sell it for the right price. give me a call or stop by tomorrow and we can discuss.

I almost got one in 1998 for my first year of college in Oregon.

I found a black one with 40K miles...it was pretty nice but I ended up doing the "smart" thing and bought a Hon-duh.

I always dream of what could have been...

I've been doing some research on the car and I really like some of the stuff (especially the '89). The car has an external wastegate (cool ) and it is much cheaper to maintain and modify than a 911. Check out this package:

340 rwhp for $3,600. Includes complete exhaust system, turbo, injectors, external wastegate, intake, computer upgrade etc. Not bad.

Dean,

DO IT! I think that's an awesome car and with some TLC, it should be an awesome project.

not too shabby - but the Porsches with the number '4' in their designations(944, 914, 924...) were pretty much VW engines, rather than the boxer design. but it is a sweet ride nonetheless.

hangbot likey the 911's

The 944 engine was half the motor in the 928. The heads are practically interchangeable. The 914 is a VW engine but it is also a boxer design (flat 4 like our cars).

Went to look at the car again today. It checks out nicely and I even had a Porsche mechanic look it over. The only thing I'm waiting for is for the service records. Once I get those I'm gonna negotiate my price and hopefully drive it home .
