I know the feeling I had to turn down a really good position over there because of the housing market.

Hey bigbob! Have you guys checked out any of the government sites?

Honolulu City & County Government Jobs

Hawaii State Jobs

Hawaii Health Systems - Oahu Region

eHawaii.gov - Employment

This one has a security certificate issue. Must be some kind of firewall on the Navy's side. Just click on continue when you get to the page.

Department of the Navy Job Opportunities

Worth a shot.

One word, mussels au gratin. Legals is the best!

As for nursing, my wife said that many places have frozen application status.
But YMMV.

Got an offer on our condo! We're looking at a late summer move, whether or not the GF has a job. We figure if she doesn't, it'll be a heck of a lot more likely for her to get one if she's actually there.

And, the modding process has begun (slowly):

Currently in the works:
BC Racing Coilovers
Rota DPTs (18 x 9.5)
Harman TBE
Cobb AP
etc.

My brother just got his nursing degree and moved to MD for a job. Yeah, hiring for nursing jobs here are pretty much on idle right now.

Good luck with moving out here although I recommend getting ajob before arriving because the cost of living is high here. Running on fumes here doesn't last long unless you have family to help you out.

Fixed I figure she needs just under 2k a month to live (yay college debt), so if I move out her out with 10k to spare, she has 6 months to find a job or to find a way to turn that 6 months into more months or we head back with our tails between our legs. Here's hoping.

Thanks guys.

Oh, re: 18 x 9.5s. Should have mentioned I'll need 265s in order to not look stretched. The silly thing is the car won't even have that aggressive of a look. 08s are crazy like that.

Great news... My girlfriend got a call from HR at Queens Medical. I guess they're actually hiring nurses (slowly but surely).

The bad news is if we wind up on Oahu I have no idea how I'll get by the inspection/recon BS, which I am still trying for the life of me to comprehend.

Either way, we're looking to be out there the first week of Sept now. I plan to do a two week road trip across the country holding Subie meets every night (with longer stops at the Ojibwe Forest Rally and Vegas), so that'll be fun.

Job situation will steer us in the direction of either Oahu or Maui.

Getting really excited to try something different for a while.... I can't imagine I'll have trouble blending in being a hapa. My pale white girlfriend on the other hand.... lol.

Enjoy all the events while you can on the mainland. It is moving very slowly here....

Yea, I'm definitely trying. Chances are I'll fly back every so often to catch a rally or for other events.

Started planning the road trip west:

Still no decision of which island yet... girlfriend keeps saying Oahu for jobs sake, and I keep saying I don't want to put my car back to stock or deal with the recon business.
