hey sr20farid welcome to hiic. yeah, i know they gots emmisions (sp?) laws in NoVA, but here i wouldn't worry too much about getting "recon" , or reconstruction permit. as long as you don't drive like a major azz and basically obey speed limits + or - 11, ask some of the shopo/ hpd guys to be sure, but i don't see you having a problem. I'm from Va. originally and we had emissions (i think that it's spelled correctly now) , but you needed to install the stock exhaust system to pass. If you come out here, you will see and hear Many cars with LOUD exhaust notes, and the bike guys esp. are HELLA loud. sorry for long reply, but trying to help you out, since i know how cops back home like to hassle 4 cylinders, but my experiences out here with my setup in my suby has been great. no hassles yet *knocks on wood*

hey 808subaru thanks for your reply, don't worry about the length. Quick question though, I am going to be keeping my tags from Maryland, do I still need to take it to inpection? I heard I have to get some sort of sticker. I will be keeping my tags because I am not sure on how long I will be living there. I do know it will be for at least 2 years. I think I will just call the DMV dept. in HI on monday to get all the info I need.

correct me if i'm mistaken people, but if you're not in the armed forces, the state of hawaii makes you register your car with hawaii plates, and that would include getting a state safety check. see what the military guys have to say...the safety check costs only about 20 bux for the whole year. registration is charged by weight of vehicle, i don't remember how much are cars cost per year off the top of my head....

Yeah 808subaru, Im pretty sure you are right people in the armed forces can get an out of state permit at an extra cost, but they advise against it because it makes us a huge target for the cops so I hear. I have about the same issue as sr20farid I have txs uppipe, pde dp, and greddy evoII exhaust and KYB AGXs with the eibach pro springs on, so its not so much the exhaust for me its the lowering im afraid of. Hope that helps some, also sorry for the long reply.

Greg had a really good post but I dont think I can find it anymore it said about what the fine is on the tint and everything. I was surprised when I heard it (or read it) from Greg. I didnt think tint was as big as it really is out there but Im glad I went with 35% all the way around just to be safe even though its really not that dark.

basically come to a meet and we can discuss this further if you guys have questions. most of the guys have similar setups, and for the most part have no problems. i'm not worried about my suspension, or exhaust setup, or anything else on my car. most of the guys feel the same way, that is that don't have their recon yet, or ever plan on getting it. GL to the both of you on your move, and safe arrival of your cars.

I just checked the VPC site and my car arrived here so now all they have to do is get it off of the boat, so hopefully Thursday I can come out and meet with you guys. Anyone else have a GM model RS on here? Or am I the only one? I know I have seen a couple around the island. Sorry for the tread hijak

Hey darksurfer81 where did yoou ship your car from and how long did it take to get there? They told me that from the day they pick it up at my house until the day I can pick it up there would be around 20 days but I just want to ask since you have done it.

Mine just got to Honolulu port yesterday, now they are saying its gonna take 4 to 5 days for it to be ready for pick up. I shipped mine from Charleston South Carolina and so far it has been 28 days, a friend of mine sent his from Oakland about a week and a half ago and its here already just not off the boat yet. So 20 days sounds about right if you are further into the mainland.
