Car Info: Genesis Coupe - Karussell White 2.0T Track Model
a ~250hp 2.5L STI (naturally aspirated) version sounds nice.
MY 2012 is what I'd expect though for the STI version.
by then I hope the track is open, and I hope I'm making more money so I can keep my 2.0T Genesis coupe (which i may decide to play with,... maybe...) and pick one of these up.

...saw the new sketch of the suby coupe and i JIZZED in my pants!
that head on shot kinda looks aston martin-ish, kinda, maybe, just a little...?
hope the sti model wont be too expensive. id pay mid 30s for it i guess. i better start studying to make E-6.

Car Info: MkIII MR2, s14, 94 mx5, 99 mx5. The beauty of rwd.
I don't see how the awd drivetrain will fit in the silhouette of that coupe. The hood sweeps too low, and the front overhang is waaaay too short for a front mounted boxer with the awd trans.
I do like the overall design though... first sleek/sporty looking subaru in a long time.

so there's 2 versions, a toyota and a subaru. the toyota gets an NA boxer motor and RWD and the subaru gets a turbo boxer motor and AWD. if the cost difference is less than 5k, why even buy the toyota at all? just my thoughts after reading some of the comments..

I'd say that pricing and marketing will be the great separator on that. The whole point of this vehicle was initially to be an affordable car to get the youth oriented clientele interested and into toyotas and subarus. It's nice to have a all conquering halo variant of these cars, but realistically monsters like that don't sell well and don't make a good business plan.
Besides, AWD, turbo, and a sub 2800lb weight, nice styling, aerodynamics not engineered by maytag... Screw the imprezas, legacies, and evos, this one will kill everything. Of course, it'd cost 35k+ in this market, and insurance would be sky high.

Couple problems with the report:
1) As stated earlier, the wheel location and engine location is a bit odd for traditional boxers on awd platforms.
2) The Subaru version is the one known to come to the states. According to the reports this car will have the STI treatment using the EJ207 boxer from the current JDM STI. Conflicting reports I would say. The JDM STI EJ207 can never make the emissions laws of the US(CA).
I want a new engine please. Subaru needs to step it up and drop in a new motor, preferably the C45.
