Damn, I remember the post you made when you car got vandalized while you were working at Sears way back in the day.

My WRX never got keyed, but it did get egged infront of Gyu-kaku on Kapiolani. It left a web shaped scratch in the middle of the driver door. I was pissed.

I feel you, I see a lot of cars come into the shop that get keyed all the time. Doesn't matter which make and model....all types. We just did a Hyundai Tiburon that was keyed on every panel except the roof (bumpers included), and we also just did a Nissan Sentra, same thing. The funniest estimate I wrote was a while back. Well, it wasn't funny that it happened to this customer, but more so what the customer said when he described the damage to me when I was writing the estimate. I don't remember the car, but the guy had just moved here from the mainland and obviously doesn't know the local "lingo". He proceeds to show me all the areas on his car that are keyed. He points out the rear door, the quarter panel, and then when he gets to the trunk he says like this," Yeah, they scratched here, and then here, and then here on trunk they scratched U-F-A, I don't know what the heck that is" Hahaha, I guess we know who keyed his car.

My co-worker's lexus got keyed up on all panels and got it repainted for 7k!

My integra got keyed all over on driver side.

And 2 nights ago some kids on skates went through the whole neighborhood smacking cars to make the alarms go off. Im lucky they used shoes instead of anything rock hard and lucky they hit the strongest part of the hood.

I couldn't agree with you more.Everything happens for a reason.....When I crashed my WRX last year, It changed alot of things. I used to do Stock room crap . But because of my injuries, I was forced to quit my job. The crash help me realize how short life is. I made peace with everyone I had conflict with, During my recovery I've made new friends that I now still hang out with. It brought the friends I had even closer. Then after my recovery, I went back to pursue my career in sales. Now, I have a job that pays 3x more than before, I'm currently rank in the top 10 sales people nation wide in clearwire, I have better benefits, started a 401K that in the last 4 months has double in size. I now drive my dream car, an STi. And now that I'm fully recovered, I'm now living on my own. All this could have not happen if it wasn't for that accident.

Alright...Off topic. Anyways I've had my first subie vandlized before. I was asking for it....I was hanging out in Waimanalo at 1:30 a.m at my boys house. Parked my car outside and I heard the alarm go off. I rushed out side and this "ice head" was taking a **** in his hand and wiping it off on all my door handels and smeared the rest on my front window.. I had to drive home over the pali and wash my car 2:30 in the morning. The smell stayed for 2 months....

I got a hit and run once at ala moana when i was in a store for only five minutes!!! No note was left. I also have some custom door dings from people that dunno how open doors. Idk y this happens when im so careful around othere peoples cars...

nope, i didnt use a buff machine...the scratches werent that bad. it was some kind of cleaner wax, sorry cant remember...wasnt mine.

you can use your comprehensive coverage if you have. depending on your deductable, it will cover but you would have to pay the deductable...most people have $500, so you pay the first $500. so it all depends on how bad the scratches are.

Having mobile repairers like COP and others are much cheaper than paying your deductable and having a record on your carfax. It's just foolish in the end and lowers your resale value. It's just like getting your dent fixed by a paintless dent removal person.

Depending on where the scratch is, it can cost up to $700-$800 to fix just 1 little scratch, no matter the size. Anything that has cut through the clear or base will require re-painting. And if the scratch is within about a foot and a half away from the next adjacent panel, the next panel would probably be recommended to blend into. Then all the parts on that panel are removed.....body mouldings, door handles, side skirts, bumpers, tail lights etc... All of this of course is the "recommended" way. There are cheaper ways, but that's another story.

On a side note, typically for Comp claims, they don't affect your premiums.
