Kartboy Short Shifter...front and rear bushings...

Anyone with an 04 STI do this mod? I'm thinking about doing it but for some reason, I am uncomfortable with this...

Need some insight into the install trials and tribulations...

Please make any comments concering this upgrade/install

If someone has done this and could help out with the install, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Brent

Thumbs up

I was planning on getting the front bushing and read some reviews/ installation guideline on nasioc and scoobymods. It sounds like a good mod.

I have done the front and rear bushings... it's very easy. The hardest part is removing the old bushing since it's one piece, but I did the install in about an hour. Ask ty about the short shifter, the only guidance I can offer is to remember to put the car in reverse and hold the lock-out collar that way or else it's a PITA to get back in.

Also to add... at this point if I had to do it (on my car) again, I would just cut off the old bushing since I wouldn't ever put it back in again.

And use lotsa lube!

I did not like the short shifter because it puts your hand in a wierd position if you have the armrest extension. Something to consider if you want comfort. To me armrest extension > short shifter

i have a very limited ability to paint
i was referring to his preference in driving- i'm suggesting the cusco engine/tranny mounts---- but may be too "harsh" for what he might be willing to have in the car.
personally i like the "feel" of the short shifters.. but i really don't think it's gonna make my shifting improve any better(by drastic measures)
after driving my friends car w/the mounts(cusco) and stock shifter... IMHO...it felt waaay better than having a short shifter-
