...so don't read into anything.
How much do you think I could get out of my car? Stripped or as is? On Oahu vs. mid-America (Indiana)?
Not saying I would, but once in a while I get a tinge of envy or jealousy when someone buys an STI or an EVO...or even a G35.

wouldn't you have a wider variety of possible buyers in Indiana?
although i'm sure you have a whole lot of parts that fellow i-clubbers would want.
so my response is i don't know, and i just feel like typing.

Well Pat,
you have to ask yourself, "how much am I willing to lose?" Nobody will give you squat for a modified car. And you (and I) have a modified car. The lure for an Evo or STI might be strong, but do you honestly think you'd keep them stock? You'd be in the same situation within months. Not sure about you, but I'm running with or better than the big dogs without even a decent tune. All I need are wheels and tires. Just my opinion.

What are the specs on your car? I live in the midwest so maybe i can help you. There are a lot of wannabe's here. Many of them drool over wrx's and Sti's. So you probably have good shot in selling it as it. The only problem is...... Most of the people who would buy you car simply don't have enough cash to even get a CRX. There is a guy here where i live and he tryed to sell his modded 04' wrx and had no luck. It was even on ebay for a while and i am pretty sure he didn't sell it. That bad thing about selling a used car modded or not is that every one wants a deal, and most people don't want to pay anything for it. Someone said "how much are you willing to lose?". I think that is right. From the other posts on here it sounds like you should just keep your car. As for the jealousy, LET IT GO! There is always going to be someone who has it better than you. Good luck! If you do decide to sell your car i will ask around locally if anyone is interested. Get me some basic idea how much you want and all the other details. Pm me if you like. BTW i live in Indiana.

10404, aloha fellow Hoosier. I'll be in Bloomington here in a couple of months.
As to my post, it's just an errant thought that I know most of y'all have entertained as well. Sort've along the same lines as, "I wonder, if I were to throw my name in the hat for the Republican presidential nomination..." You know, here in October, I'll be legally eligible to run.
Nah, being here, it's a bit different from being home as you have nothing to do but work, eat, sleep, and THINK. Not always a good thing.
For the first time, I asked Kathy about buying an expensive part for my car. It wasn't as though she was majorly opposed, but she predictably said I should wait as we should be paying off bills. I hate it when she uses logic and common sense.
I think I'm going to buy the part, anyhow.
Ergo, I'm faced with something a little unfamiliar....guilt. Too much time to think leads to me being in touch with my conscience.
One question that spawns from this is, 'what do I want?'
I want something to Rally Cross. If there isn't any fairly local Rally Cross events, then maybe dirt 1/8th or Karting. I'd like to be able to take advantage of any trackdays within 200 miles of my home. I'd like to drag in order to see the fruits of my tuning. I'D LIKE A DYNO.
I'd like to have a car or cars for all of that above where I'm not gambling with $20k ($40k)
I'm thinking about weighing options.
Option 1)Honda Civic...keep WRX for daily driving
Option 2)Impreza L...keep WRX for daily driving
Option 3)Midget/Sprint...keep WRX for drag and occasional track days
Option 4)Kart...keep WRX for drag and occasional track days
Note, I want to keep my car, but there are inherent drawbacks if I choose to use it for fun. If I wreck it, the drawback is obvious. If I want to use it for racing, I doubt that it falls within the rules of very many SCCA or NASA(that's assuming that NASA or SCCA even have anything beyond something like AutoX available for novices.) I can't have a $60k WRX and that's where this is obviously leading.

you just need to get home and stop thinking.
Kate had me so guilt tripped about my car that when I got in it (after I got it back from the shop) I hated it. I didn't like driving it. I was mad at the whole experience. My only problem was a stock ECU with leaky 550 injectors. It was my fault it was like that. Yet I hated my car.
That lasted almost a week. Remember when my car was for sale? Boy was that dumb.
Now you won't be able to pry it from my cold dead fingers... when I go.
You just need to go for a drive in it again. Stop thinking about what you could do. Pay your damn bills to make your wife happy, but save more money than you're telling her about. Then buy what you need to fix the little things and have fun.
You got a sweet car. You know it. People would give organs for what you have.
