Looks like Popular Mechanics has very nice things to say about the new STI:

It’s a fact: Flare the fenders wide enough, and you can make any car look way cooler. That design element, often necessitated by engineering (fatter wheels and tires) has been used for decades on manufacturer’s top performance models. And it was the flared fenders, not the audacious rear wing or even the mailbox-size hood scoop, that made the last generation of Subaru’s WRX STI look so menacing. The design of the all-new WRX, from which the 2008 STI you see here is based, was not greeted with universal praise by the press or Subaru’s fiercely loyal fans—too plain and pedestrian looking, they said.
Well that may change when they get an eyeful of the new STI down at their local Subaru dealer. Yes, the STI now comes only as a five-door hatchback, instead of the popular sedan bodystyle. But who cares? In the flesh, those flared fenders transform the WRX from a slightly vanilla wagon into a purpose-built rally raid car.

Car Info: STi (cornering, accelerating and braking hard).
The thing is the USDM STi got spanked around the track. The Evo has generally been a better track car, but the STi is the better boulevard cruiser.
This battle will go on as long as the two manufacturers keep building these cars.
I just found it funny that a Evo victory was posted in an STi forum.

WOW! 2.5 seconds slower than the automatic MR, that is quite a spanking. I hate reading too much into these articles, but I was kinda bummed. I thought the sum of the parts would make the STi that much better, but I guess not. Is the JDM STi that much better than the USDM model despite being a half a liter under? I was really impressed by the way the car took to Tsukuba, it seemed the superior car. But the USDM STi on US soil is simply second best, this the second test on US soil in which the STi loses. As Ed pointed out earlier, the EVO is the preferred track car and the STi is the bruiser with street cred. This in no way dulls my interest in the new STi, but I kinda wish it did better, I'll just say that something was wrong with the STi demo and the EVO example was not a representative one.

was that with the slash it sales or just by himself? derrick sells 60+ every month without special sales events but if it was 350 on his own without fleet deals then thats badass!!
