Anyone know where to get some roses, plants/bushes. A few years back I vowed to not get my wifey another plant..... she tends to kill them! However, since living at schofield she has been doing a pretty good job with the veggies. I honestly dont think she isn't doing anything different.... it has to be the weather and climate here, it rains so frequently. I've not gone to home depot or lowes yet, I know they have em there. Looking for some quality and im willing to drive. Also would help to know a place with a variety of other types of tropical plants to choose from so I'm not limited to roses. Thanks in advance!

Eff roses, stupid blasted things cost too much to maintain IMHO. If it's not the bugs it's the "rust" or some other thing you gotta constantly treat them for. When we lived out there I had to cut ours back to barely anything every season and even then the problems came back. IMHO find some other type of plant to grow, heck, artichokes are edible and their light purple flowers are cool too. Just do your harvest and leave 3-5 to goto bloom. You still gotta deal with bugs for them but even then they're 10 times easier to deal with than eff'n roses.

Koolau Farmers in Kaneohe, near the Nissan Dealership, has a bunch of plants including fruit trees...wide variety for you to choose. There is also a Nursery a little ways past Kualoa Ranch toward Northshore...Waimanalo has a nursery as well...right off the main road. If you just want orchids or small plants, you can go to the Aloha Stadium on Sunday's and stay on the inner two circles where the local's all put their goods out...you'll find some there real cheap...probably get some tips on how to grow them too...nice people. You may find some nice tools and tactical gear while you are there if you are into that...like me!
