iPod Hook-Up

I was wondering if anyone is experienced with car audio installations. All I want done is to install the oem ipod hook-up for my hatch. I am not experienced nor do I want to take apart my dash and damage something.

Here's a link to how this guy did it:

(He bent something :-(, nothing too important but I'd like to avoid that)

Here's the official instructions:

Of course you'll be compensated monetarily.

I thought this feature came with the STi. If not thought the process looks simple enough, looks like maybe an hour or two of work.

In my opinion, ipod dock connectors are a complete utter waste of money. There are many reasons on why.

1) The ipod dock connector is extremely expensive. You'd think the $140 for yours is expensive? Mine is $350.
2) The ipod dock connector only works with current generation ipods. There is no guarantee for it to work on future ipods/iphones. You will get the incompatibility messages every time you plug it in saying that some features aren't available, ie. iPhone 3G. It is also known that charging isn't always compatible with older connectors and new iPhones and iPods.
3) If you own an iPhone, you're not getting any use out of that connector. If you get a good upgraded deck system with a front AUX and bluetooth, you can use your iPhone's BT integration and still listen to music in the car.
4) In reference to #3, my car has built in bluetooth and iPod connection inside the glove compartment. I never use it and prefer my $50 Kensington dock that looks very OEM with my car. It is a charger with a gooseneck mount that holds the phone. Most people think it's OEM. GPS, email, surfing the web, talking **** on twitter/facebook, etc. Just make sure to switch to GPS when you get pulled over.

it could be just me but i always have problems with the connection with indash/ipod. sometimes it'll play no problem, sometimes it'll lose connection so often i just play the radio or cd. the connection is coming direct from the back of my deck to the ipod connection and still there's gotta be a better way.

im still a big fan of the cd however only like 18 songs isnt that great.

ipod only good thing is alot of songs !!!!
