Interesting auto-X setup

So I was reading Subiesport's article on "Stompy" the car that won the national SCCA Solo II ESP Class title.

The dude's suspension setup is interesting...

Custom Coilovers (1,000 lb springs in back)
Camber plates
Custom rear diff
Cusco Lower arm bar
Cusco rear strut tower bar
Urethane bushings all over the place
Stock front sway bar (upcoming hollow 32mm front sway)
NO rear sway bar ()
18X10 wheels w/ 285/30/18 tires (dry...WOW!)
17X8.5 wheels w/245/40/17 tires (wet...WOW!)

....Crazy different setup huh? How does he run without a rear sway? Do those super hard springs do the trick? Holy crap he has HUGE tires!

Finally, who here runs in ESP? Do you think your car is set up to run with this?

I guess w/out the rear sway, the suspension is able to keep the wheels/tires on the road kind of like how offroaders disconnect their sways so their suspension articulates with the terrain. I know that with a thick rear sway, the inside rear may lift. If not, then there is definately less weight on it, lessening the ability to keep the power and traction to the ground. This may not be good if your suspension is too soft as you will experience a good amount of body roll.

Being that this guy's springs are pretty stiff, I guess they do the trick like you said.

then again, I could be wrong. can anyone verify this?

Not sure what SCCA Solo II ESP Class title they think the car won, but I'm thinking Dave Schotz (2003 Nationals ESP winner, Mustang Cobra) and Sam Strano (2004 National ESP winner, Chevy Camaro) would disagree.

As for the setup itself, I would guess the rear spring rates are significantly higher than the fronts to account for the lack of a rear sway bar. Any idea what the front spring rates are?
