Just to add to the link above. Here is my CC install:

http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/sho...&threadid=2769

There are two places you can put a catch can in line. One is where I put that one in the link and the other is off of the PCV valve. If you want to catch all the oil in the vapor you should put in two separate CC's. However, the one I did above is the one that will prevent oil from accumulating in the IC. That was my purpose for installing one, I found oil in my Y pipe when I took the IC off for a look see. The location I put my CC was by necessity. In the motor bay there is no good place to put one on an F-XT. The location Impreza people are using is in front of the battery which isn't something I could not do due to some hardware being there that I don't think the Impreza has.

Look here for another pic and description of a CC purpose:

http://www.perrinperformance.com/pro.../catchcan.html

Now I've seen people do this:

http://mikeegan.stormpages.com/CatchCan.html

Where they combine both the valve cover and crank case PCV lines and into the same catch can, but to tell the truth, I don't think that's a good idea. These systems are seperate and should not be combined into a common can. The Crank Case PCV line goes into the intake AFTER the IC that is why I used the valve cover one, that feeds into the intake tract before the turbo and IC. Just my 0.02$ as I understand it. I'm willing to listen if I got this wrong.

I wish I could find the link that explains why the two should not be combined. It seemed like a good explanation.

Ah here it is look at Perrin's reply:

I vented the PVC

back to the catch can also. I'm using the same setup as Eurosport Bob's WRX that put down nearly 376whp, so I don't know that I'm going to change it unless I see some proof positive it's not correct.

I don't think it's

necessary, but I'm **** so I used some foam lawn mower air filter material. I also siliconed a hose to force the intake to the bottom of the catch can where it has to pass all the foam to escape at the top (exit).

I've got a big sponge that I'm gonna cut up and drop in it. I'm not convinced I need it, but it's worth a try. I know I've got oil in my IC, so I should see results.
