Install help..
Well, this thursday i was going to meet up with Mister 2, and i was going to buy his Turbo XS FMIC.. I was wondering if anyone would have time to help me install the FMIC either on thursday or friday morning... I have never done a FMIC before but i would love to learn how... Oh and also i have the Chargespeed v2 kit so im going to have to cut the bumper with a dremol and i dont have one of those.... If anyone would like to help me please post or call me... 741--1572..

Your going to need more than a Dremel unless you wanna be there all day get a SawZaw thats what Sean used to cut Pat's bumper and that's what I used to cut DrVortex's bumper beam and Thrusday is turkey day..If I could I'd help I would and I guess you could do it with a Dremel..

Shoot then that thing will be easy so do you have to cut under the fog light covers some of that plastic? What FMIC's don't require the cutting of the beam? Besides the Turbo XS.

well, actually i dont need to cut the bumper beam because the turbo xs fmic comes with a custom bumper beam... Also i needed to take out the bumper beam when i installed the chargespeed kit because it wouldnt fit... But the kit is fiberglass and i heard that a dremel works good on fiberglass but if you guys think that a sawzall will work better then ill go with that...
Oh and i really need help on this install because i dont know much on FMIC...

Uuuhhmm,
no. I was pulling on highly modified WRXs and slightly faster than a few STIs on the stock turbo. No work done to the turbo. Didn't even have engine management or anything. Horror stories of massive lag are just that, stories. I will say that I have an AVC-R, and that my FMIC isn't as massive as yours (I have the same APS FMIC used in the Cobb Conebasher, Type R), so you will have more lag. I also have equal length headers. But once your ECU "learns" and if you have an EBC that "learns" also, it'll be good. The biggest thing I noticed was that the engine pulled very strongly from around 4k to redline, instead of me "begging" it to pull. I didn't have to cut my bumper beam. I also have some 3M stuff to "clean" the edge where you'll cut the bumper cover. You'll need it for a "clean" look. Cutting the bumper cover was by far the most time consuming thing. I've seen some bumper covers that were cut "too much" in areas. Cut a bit at a time. You can always cut more, you can't put cut bumper cover back on.
