Initial D 2: The Video Game
While at Ala Moana yesterday, my kids wanted to go to Jungle Fun. While in there, I noticed that there were alot of driving games. Me and my oldest son played a racing game by Konami (don't know the name) we raced the downhill touge and he and his Hatchi got their azzes handed to them with me and my GC8. We both wanted to try the Initial D game, but at $2 each, it was pretty steep to just try. Anywayz, I watched this guy stuff about ten bucks on this game and he lost each race (he was using a Hatchi). With my last two dollars, I decided to try. I picked the GDB (naturally) and decided to do the battle mode like the guy I was watching, but decided to try normal mode instead of easy. My first race was to be against the "Tokyo Guys". The GDB handled pretty good, the game has a nice feel to the steering, nothing too artificial. I was able to beat the Silvia handily, but was disgusted by the fact that I would have to drop two more dollars if I wanted to continue racing another opponent...what a rip!!! The other slap was that I would have to pay another two dollars to put my standings on a card so I could keep my progess on it. Are there any other arcades that have this game, maybe at a lower fee; or better yet, is it available for PS2 or computer? I really liked playing this game.

the impreza in the game is a real cheat car. i wanted to get one, but they say its for guys that don't know how to play the game, which i don't ( so i don't see the problem)
there is the home version on japanese playstation 2.
if you ever decide to hit up the hawaiian bryan arcades let me know. maybe i can try and hit it up. haven't played that game for a long time.

Hehe, the GC8 was the cheat car in the original Gran Turismo
Man, I haven't been to Hawaiian Bryan's in nearly a year. Pool tables, a full-sized video arcade, and the guarantee that you'd run into someone you knew there every single time: priceless

I tried playing that game a couple of times and I sucked. I drove like I would normally drive my car when racing. Then I saw this kid playing the game and he was kicking butt. But he was so rough on the car and was going full lock and downshifting into redline to induce oversteer. Although this was an effective way of driving the car in the game, if he were to do that to a real car he would be calling AAA at the bottom of the hill. Some of the games these days are so far from reality that many will have to relearn how to drive or will get themselves killed thinking that their car is a video game.
Remember that game Hard Drivin' and Stunt Drivin' with the red testarossa? Ah the good old days.
