I'm 80% sure this is what it does but there is that other 20%
Manual valve bodies replace the automatic transmission's valve bodies with a manually controlled one. It is similar to using an AutoStick or Tiptronic except that it does not automatically upshift or downshift if you forget

If it's a manual valve body is allows you to hold whatever gear you want for longer and usually increases line pressure so shifts are more positive...
