Im stump!!

Hey there guys. I am stumped and Im have a question for those of you whom are running front strut bar setups. Ok I just got my STi strut bar from Japan and tried to put it on but the dang bracket for the ac hose/line is in the way. Fellow i-clubbers had told me to just push it down but I feel I want to do a clean job and not putting any damage or friction on both my strut bar and the ac line. How did you guys get this bracket off. I tried everything from thin Extended sockets to using a power drill with a phillips bit to take it off. Nuthing is working, so by the time you guys read this. I will be in my garage thinking of a way to take it off.

Thank you very much,
Alojah's

if i can remember correctly it isn't that hard. it should be a 10mm socket or something. you'll have to completely remove the bracket since the strut tower bar will interfere with the A/C lines. and you'll have to just push them aside (don't be to rough with it)

mine came off easy. i just went to home depot and rigged up a new bracket that held it lower, be carefull with the water lines, both intercooler sprayer and windshield washer, they sometimes get crimped in between the hood/strut bar. you know that intercooler sprayer adds 135,560 wheel horsepower.. lol

Thanks "infek and boostin". I have taken your feedback into consideration and I just gone done installing it. Though I am a little sketchy about the ac line lying against strut bar. Did any of you guys ran into problems with your strut bar having contact with your ac line. Im not worried about my water washer and intercooler lines. I did some shifting and they both have clearanc except the ac line. Took me almost 2 hours lubing all the bolts and doing a professional-like job.

ummmm... don't take this the wrong way but you'r being a little to **** about this install. it shouldn't be as hard as you're making it out to be. in the instructions that came with my cusco strut tower bar (years ago) it states to move the A/C lines out of the way so that it DOESN'T rub on your strut tower bar.

Walter,

Just did my cousins...you can either fabricate a bracket real cheap...or just move the bracket down like we did...when you do this, you will only be able to screw in one bolt (the top bolt hole is now used in the bottom hole)...but it holds fine...no rubbing...it should take like 15 min for the install...

Mahalo's much everyone. I dont have any clearance becuase I think the middle piece of the strut bar is big and its just making contact with the ac line. Its an OEM STi strut bar from Japan from an '02 model. But oh well as long as my ac dont act, up then its all good.

If you are concerned about the A/C lines rubbing up against the strut bar and chafing it, to to Home Depot in the plumbing section and get some foam rubber pipe insulation and zip tie it down on the A/C line. I just pushed my A/C line down on my STi and never had a problem.
