I just got back from a 110mi. trip to take a look at this one.

Found HERE

It's very nice and in really good condition, but in spite of myself, I'm having second thoughts. I'll do the pros and cons in each sentence:

It's an auto(c), but I'd like to do a swap anyhow (p). The swap is actually a p and a c because it's not as though I have the engine and tranny just lying around...nor the dough. Mach5 told me that Greddy makes a great kit for the KA24, and he said that NoLimit would agree (18hr? Thoughts?)

Also, my objective is that hopefully I'd be able to turn it into a race car, and as far as I can tell, NASA and Improved Touring Class require you to be NA.

I've given an '89 Mustang quite a bit of thought.

Pat, go with a 2nd gen RX-7! If I were to buy any rear wheel drive car the RX-7 is on the top of my list. If you want speed they have them, and they are very light! Rotory engines rock! I almost picked up one of the turbo models on ebay for 5k, but then I got my RS. It was a hard decision for me, but oh well. You can get the n/a version for around 1k.

that 240 in your pic at least has a DE motor in it. it seems to be a SE model, so you better check for hicas and especially open the trunk and look where the spoiler mounts, because it should have rust where the stupid spoiler meets the trunk.

a guy here went through many setups for his ka24de turbo and finally got a sr20det instead. so maybe that can answer the idea of turboing the ka or getting a sr20det. as for the rb20 and rb25, i liked mikes rb25, but not the price. the rb20 is selling for cheap for a reason. most likely harder to get parts.

Nate,

The only thing holding me up in looking at a rotary is that I have gained a lot of knowledge in the last couple of years...I don't know a thing about rotaries.

You know I'm going to have to crack open the engine.

Also, I'm finding that I am unable to make a bid on ebay for a car. It's too difficult for me to bid a couple of K on something I'm unable to see...and the one I saw, while pretty much perfect, made me have 2nd thoughts.

Looks like I'm left with local classifieds.

Cool

Pat, as soon as I can sell the STi I'm going to pick up an S14 and get this greddy kit for it.

Model:240SX
Year:1996-98
Kit: TDO6SH-20G cast manif. w/ e-manage, fuelrail & 370cc inj.
Part# 11520633
Price: $3,590.00

I like the KA for the .4 more displacement and extra torque yO! But I'm not a 240 expert. ( b is the i-club 240 go to guy.) The kit's price is little high.....but you won't have to do a swap.......and get a damn 5speed! Start with the best "base" you can it will make your project go smoother.

I'd go with a S14.....I had a S13 and it sucked to get in and out of it. We are way too tall for S13's.
