Holy crap, that's quite a story! I haven't seen anything quite that asinine.
I don't think it's that people drive crazy here, I think they just don't understand how to drive. People in NYC or Boston or wherever drive aggressively, but the generally know what they're doing (and they do it anyway!
). Here it seems like a disproportionate number of people just don't have any idea how driving and traffic is supposed to work. I can't tell you how many times I've been in a line at a 4-way stop sign with everyone just kind of sitting there waiting for someone else to go first.
Or someone who stops when they're trying to merge onto another street, despite the fact there's a dedicated merge lane provided for them to merge.
Or someone stopping on H-1 to wait for a gap in traffic to appear so they can merge into the next lane. Meanwhile, the lane they're in continues to flow along, so while they're stopped waiting to merge to the next lane, a 200yd gap is created.
Exactly!

today i almsot got rear ended. there was a police block on the road, and the woman behind me stopped like a normal driver would. this big white moke truck behind her didn't stop. he completely rear ended her and i was about 2 inches away from being next.

Dunno if it's the same as here on the Big Island, but one of the worst is the little tutu peeking between the dash and steering wheel going 35-40mph tops driving by feel on the reflectors on a 2 lane road with no passing area. Then you finally bust out to pass her and a cop hiding in the bushes busts you for going 56 in a 55 and does nothing about the ticking timebomb tutu going down the road.
My biggest pet peeve tho is the people that drive side by side when there's a passing lane. I mean WTF?
