So if I could sell parts for what you pay or cheaper on the internet, offer awesome service, have an AWD dyno, and a race/street car that owns...I could have a pretty good shop. i think it can be done. hey richard...if your friend is serious, i would be willing to back something if he has a good plan.

Faird has already established himself, ... and now he has an installation shop as well.
So now with the SpeedGear/Evolution shop, plus the parts he does carry, and is trying to carry more, ... it's the local shop that will get most of our business and Referals.
Plus he is holding track days, and planning on holding them more frequently since he has the second shop now. And I'm sure he's at least contemplating the idea of getting a dyno.

Many of us have discussed opening a shop, ... and like Richard said, there's not really "room" for just another shop here on Oahu. More power to whomever is going to dump the money into it.

Snuffy,

I'll be sure to mention it to my friend. He's the kind of guy with a lot of cash that jokes about doing something and then BAM one day it's done.

If it looks like it's going to come to fruition any time soon I'll try and get you guys hooked up for some "talks".

Thanks!

I think Richard's list is pretty accurate. I've been thinking about this stuff for a while too (You know.....if I won $1 million what would I do....buy a house, build a car, start a business) and there are too many of those "normal" performance/tint/stereo shops. I think you "can" make money....but you really need to decide what kind of shop u want to run.

-For me, a knowledgeable staff is a must!
-I believe you can make money on parts with the right connections and good inventory management. You definitely cant use fedex and ups for the majority of your shipping.
-You really need a good amount of cash for startup to build inventory, purchase the RIGHT equipment (a dyno, etc), find a reasonable location (not necessarily downtown but not waianae), find 1 or 2 very good mechanics, and 1 or more expert tuners (depends on variety of cars u wish to serve and variety of tuner experience).
-You have to remember the importance of the customer.
-You need a good staff!!! None of this: "do you have _____ air freshener?" Response: "Ummmmm I'm not sure, whatevers over there is what we have." (K thats just a simple one thats on my mind. By the way....anyone know if any place carries Lapty air freshener anymore?

Alright sorry for the novel....and that was just the beginning. Maybe getting that computer/business actually stimulated my mind! haha

But honestly...maybe it's just because I'm ****....but knowledgeable people who take pride in their work means something to me. You need a dyno, someone who REALLY knows how to use it, and a well run business...oh and don't forget the wad of cash to start.

Those were just my wishes....but there are a number of performance and stereo shops that dont know ****, making a ton of money selling crappy equipment......go figure.

I would have to agree with this. If Farid plays his cards right, that will be "the store" here.

On a side note........

A store needs 2 things

1) The owner and store workers need to be enthusiasts and have a good knowledge of what's going on.

2) Good customer service. <---- And that's why I've spent so much money in Farids stores. Every other store I've been to on island, the people in them have been the biggest A$$holes!! (I wont name any names, but it's not hard to figure out all the other stores on island.)

Install shop with a strip bar and lap dance area while you wait for someone to install your parts.

Have realy hot chicks to be greaters at the shop.

Sell those life like dolls here and get them at a discount when buying parts off you.

Or have a coffie bar hang out in a large warehouse big parking lot just to look at your car. Install shop next to it also.

Rent a public hobbie shop lift and all with a coffie bar hang out and staff it with hot chicks and strippers with a lap dance area.
Have it open for 24hrs.
sell those life like porno dolls and high performance parts for cars.

Screw all that hot chicks stuff, they're all too much trouble. I gots my hand. Maybe just a Sony WEGA TV with DVD's of hot chicks would be enough. They all would have to be rubbing their bare, oily ***** against each other though. Seems like that would be a good theme for a tuner shop. Well, ok. Live chicks rubbing the oily ***** against each other would be ok, I guess. Oh yeah, and special rooms that featured the girls from the island of Lesbia. When you got too hot from working under your hood, you could go into the 'island rooms' and sit and have a Coke.

Now a tuner shop with a buffet, I'd pay big dollars for that. As a matter of fact, it's my opinion that every store should have a buffet.

Or maybe if they had a shop that had a whole bunch of free candy.

Maybe if they had one of those wave-massager machines like you see in the fancier malls.

Free coffee.

Snuffy,

I am so sorry I took advantage of your thread for a laugh. Everyone's so serious.

All that I think that I'd need would be an AWD dyno.

I don't care if I get parts that I buy online or at a local shop, I just want the cheapest I can get. The only benefit to a local shop is that you could get the part right now.

Ok, last wish. If the tuner shop was located in a chapel, that'd be great. That way, we could go in to watch the oily boobies and the wild, untamed amazons from Lesbia; and everyone would think you're going in to pray and eat Nilla Wafers.
