Your ECU has no idea what's going on inside that pressurized intake of yours now.

FMIC's don't traditionally run very well with stock engine mapping at all.

Has you boost been affected by the FMIC installation?

If you're having a lean misfire - whoa... That's REALLY lean. I wouldn't suggest pounding the car anymore at all!

Get the supporting mods on there for the FMIC (turbo, injectors, pump, engine management) and tune that puppy!

This may also have to do with the nature of the intake that you installed along with your FMIC.

Did you have the intake on before?

It may be throwing your MAF voltage WAY off the chart and confusing the ECU...

BTW, adding boost to this volatile situation would be a BAD IDEA!

adding a front mount with no type of EMS is always going to run you leaner. Also with a stock turbo, it's going to spool up slower, and have a hard time pushing enough air. I don't know of anyone else running a f/m right now with a stock turbo.

I'm also wondering what boost levels you're hitting now with the f/m installed. You do have guages installed, right?

Another reason not to get a bling bling FMIC in a stock car.

Agreed. For the most part installing the FMIC as a purely cosmetic modification (don't hook up the piping) and leaving the TMIC in place would make for a better driver...

I'm surprised no one has done this yet.

I believe you could also try the Apexi SAFC and tuning the fuel out that way but I never heard of anyone trying that.

It may not be going lean due to excessive intercooling of the intake charge, but because of the incorrect way the airflow is being reported by the MAF.

You could tune for it by adding STi injectors and pulling fuel with a S-AFC, but that's just a ridiculous amount of work and expenditure to put in to the car just to have the FMIC run properly.

You might as well go with the whole turbo/injector/pump/engine management route at this point.

You'll need engine management to bring fueling back in line after installing STi injectors.

Going colder on the plugs won't help this particular problem. Replacing worn plugs, has a slim chance of helping (regardless of heat range).

Throwing a FMIC in front of a stock computer is NOT like throwing a boob at a baby. The computer doesn't instinctually know what to do with it.

You'll have to find a user tunable solution or something pre-configured for your setup (which is unlikely, not too many stock turbo/FMIC maps out there).

If you're JUST going for EM so that you can run STi injectors and make everything copacetic then a SAFC-II would do.

If you're going to be upgrading for more power (turbo, exhaust, etc.) and need to run pump gas you'll want something that has control over ignition advance at the very least, and boost control would also be nice (so something like the UTEC or Xede).

Shh, that would be EXACTLY the kinda thing I would do. Got several grand into the sti and no more power, probably less with all the added weight. to each his own tho...
