I don't belong here but...
Just wanna say Howzit to the Hawaii WRX guys - I don't own one but I admire the WRX's especially the STi.
Long story short - Single parent here, couldn't afford to buy an STi but wanted a new turbo car so I was forced to settle for an SRT-4. Fun little car but I wish it had some traction - Damn thing spins like hell & pulls like a peg leg when it finally grabs but it's still fun LOL! Sure would be nice to have some decent 60' times.
Any way, I see quite a lot of WRX folks at the track when I do go & just wanted to say you're welcome to wander over to talk story if you see me in the pits at HRP. My car is silver & # on the window is 2112. If I'm not by my car I'm usually drooling over Mike's Viper. (My car's big brother!)
Trust me I'm not a troll, I see what your cars do at the track & have nothing but respect & props for you folks.
Take care, & take care of those nice cars!

Welcome to i-club dude My name is just like my screen name, hope to meet you out there sometime. So what kinda tires are you runnin on your SRT-4?? I think it would be cool to see one out at a track day. If you don't know what a track day is do a search under track day, then focus only on track days in hawaii forums.

Welcome. I'm a closet fan of the SRT4. I can't wait for one of you to bring some slicks, free up you exhaust, install a larger turbo....
If I see you, I'll say hello.

Howzit! I'm a full-blown SRT4 fan! Those things are modern musclecars. I liken it to the hemi dart. Base model, stripped down, kitted up, big bore, low rent FUN! It's a spiritual successor to the American musclecars of yore. Thumbs up!

Thanks guys -
I wish the SRT had AWD! (Or even RWD) I'm not too thrilled about FWD cars, I'm not confident with cornering them. Running around on open track day would probably get me wrecked. I used to play around in the dirt a lot with my truck in 2X or 4X. I haven't tried to slide a FWD car around - Just seems totally different and quite honestly a bit scarey to sling these FWD things around, it would take some getting used to. It's enough of a chore to go in a straight line with these things LOL!
Any way - I gave up trying to run on street tires with this car at HRP. When I go I put on a set of 24.5/8.0-15 Mickey Thompson slicks mounted on Kosei K-1 wheels. I'm still getting tons of wheelspin though so my next set will be 26" M&H's.
So you guys see any EVO VIII's out there at HRP? How are they doing? I know some of you WRX guys are running in the 12's & low 13's out there. Very nice.
There should be an SRT out there in 2-3 months from now running a bigger turbo in it - Not mine though, too poor right now!
Well guys - Gotta go for now. I'm gonna go to a friend's house to slug a couple beers down & check out his '55 Chevy that he's building.
Laters for now -
Walt

Walt,
A guy named Eric with a black Evo I think is the fastest here. He ran a 13.42 last night @ 101mph.
I thought that slicks would cure wheelspin. I know nothing about cars that aren't WRX. I wish I were joking. Anyhow, maybe someone can chime in here on the legality of if you were to put some bleach on your tires while in the staging lane. I see the 'big boys' with their 'crew' applying VHT (*******s!*), so maybe you could look into getting some of that.
*they broke my trans! Twice!!!!
just kidding. I have no idea why my tranny brokeded.

Welcome! I almost bought an SRT-4 & actually test drove it. I was so stoked, until the $6K dealer markup I fell in love with the car that day, but after I bought my WRX, I can definitely feel your pain on the FWD issues. Good to hear from ya, & hope to see you at the track!
