I see,... using lath or cheap wood would be good, but one would have to have spare pieces with you at the range to change out if it did get shot/damaged..

I gotta go check the website again if there are any rules to building the frame again..

Just a though though so wouldn't need to swap frame pieces,...

Ive seen cheap wood backing instead of cardboard,.this last longer through out the day I guess for those users?

I use cheap wood frame with wing nuts hinges to allow easy folding. cardboard backing as well, since its easy to bring a few backings with you and restaple it on.
steel would be a bit scary, plus a .44 would put a hole in it anyway... unless we're all shooting .22LR

Not sure if you know but shooting at flat steel is frowned upon at most outdoor ranges I have been to. The only thing made of metal I have seen are those hanging ones that you hit and they spin around or flip.

Go on youtube, there's a video of a guy shooting a .50 BMG and it ricocheted straight back and took out his optics/ear muffs/nearly his brain.

If you do use metal it has to be bent at an angle and definitely not at a 90 degree angle from the ground which is what I think you would need for a target frame. Though I have never had to build my own frame as all the ranges I have had memberships at just had their own and you go staple your targets to them...actually, that is probably for liability reasons.

Not sure if guys in the military can back this up but I have to think they see this happen when they are shooting at something metal.

I've been hit by ricochets from steel many times. Our plates would get dished out and start sending slugs back at us. Then we'd have to flip them over and it was all good for another couple weeks.

Caught a full .45 slug in the shin once, boy did that smart. One of the other guys caught one in the forehead. Knocked him clean out for a minute.

Safety first and not worth hurting yourself as well as others and put them at risk..

Ill make making frames my project in the upcoming week..Ill probably head down with my cuzn and friend one day when done..

Another Question on targets,...I brought bullseye that change to a green color when bullet makes impact...I was told I couldnt use that before. Also, is there protocol in selecting target type such as bullseye size (multiple on 1 target as well), or using body sillohetes (sp).....?? Applies to both pistol and long gun...

Question on the rifle target frame,..

You can make your target frame anywhere from 24" to 80" tall on the opening where the cardboard goes? Is there a reason why up to almost 7 ft. for the opening or is it to add multiple bullseyes or is it for a farther range???
