How strong is an STI tranny ?

percentage wise compared to a WRX tranny, can it handle a higher increase in power, percentage wise compared to a standard WRX ?

Yes and no. Yes it is a little stonger than a normal WRX tranny, but that doesn't mean it won't break under constant drag strip abuse...

The guy that wrote the Import Tuner article that was just released seems to think that the tranny is bullet proof. For what it's worth, here's a link to that article.

Prodrive uses the STi trannny for the WRC team, but it has all the bells and whistles

They also only use one tranny per rally. After each rally they sell the tranny.

Are you sure the SWRT uses an STi tranny as the basis for it's Prodrive unit?

Transmission = Prodrive 6-speed electro-hydraulic

I really doubt it is the STI one just because the SWRT/WRC one uses a 6spd sequential that costs 80k each.

Are you having a hard time getting the crashbox shipped to Hawaii?

Long story short.

I have a friend who works at 'Division HQ' for the 25th who has his finger on the pulse of all the National Guard Air units who fly into here. He said he has some friends in a Colorado unit who would do it for free, but they don't get here until November.

So I'm back to the $600 deal.
