Question How accurate are Horsepower Calculators?

because mine says:

I know the weight is accurate because I started with the curb weight of my car and added my wieght, stereo weight and subtracted for parts I've removed. I didn't even add weight for the turbo, bigger exhaust etc.

They are very accurate if given perfect data. It's hard to supply them with perfect data due to real world variables however.

I'd say they're a good ballpark. They're better than my eyeball is at guessing a girl's weight but probably not as good as my ability to gauge her nationality.

IOW, take the results with a grain of salt.

I would think because our cars are AWD, this might be a bit different. Traction is a BIG difference in the result of the car's 1/4 mile performance. What does a 800 hp Supra and a 500 hp Supra have in common? They have about the same 1/4 ET.

I go trap speed method and add 25% to get a decent flywheel figure. So - 270hp or so at the crank give or take. What was your trap speed anyway? That seems kind of low...

This is what my car gets:
Simple Horsepower Calculations
Using the ET method, I come up with 305 horsepower
Using the Speed method, I come up with 295 horsepower
If I give it a 3200lb. weight (is that too light?)

That must be wheel horsepower above! I thought it was crank power.

I say that because this is what my Mustang got:
Using the ET method, I come up with 431 horsepower
Using the Speed method, I come up with 447 horsepower
(11.60 @ 119mph @ 3400lbs). I dyno'd at 440-460rwhp. Pretty darned close!

From the Corral calculator:
The Corral - Horsepower Estimator

Your trapspeed was 119 miles per hour
and your vehicle weight was 3400 pounds.

You are making 457 hp.

car runs out of poop in higher gears.
I think it's a combination of not being intercooled, too much timing and detonation and not enough fuel to number three because my parallel fuel rail mod isn't installed yet because
Tom at ludespeed hasn't sent me the right one.
