well, my 93 has it. my 94 didn't have it. 03 FXT's and up have them, along with almost every 08 model subaru offers to date.
bpang1, ward top is definitely a hill I will always avoid as well as certain kalihi valley streets. lol

Yeah the only good thing about Ward is you can turn off on any of the side streets leading up to the top and come around to the road at the top at a easier incline...which is what I did.

^^wow, its a proven fact. everytime i've been on that damn hill somebody was tryin to store their engine in my trunk.
but thumbs down to hill hold, i dont need help biotch! subaru needs to quit adding all these comfort/friendly features on the STI. they really need to bring back the rawness of the 04's, back when the radio was an option.

Custom Hill Holder
I had my own hill holder that only worked when I needed it. Any stick shift with a hand brake has it already installed. Here's the instructions for use.
1. Park on hill.
2. Put car in 1st gear.
3. Pull hand brake (keep release button depressed with your thumb)
4. SLOWLY release clutch while giving the car gas.
5. SLOWLY release hand brake.
6. Start driving away.
7. Wave at hot tourist chicks.
Ill be happy to demonstrate at the next meet. (In your car of course. I drive an automatic now LOL)

no thanks, already attained that skill. btw, no one drives my car but me. you don't see the batmobile driven by anyone else, right? (besides robin in "batman and robin movie", that was gay, it doesn't count) that goes for me.

It holds the brake for you while you're on a hill so that you can be ready on the clutch and gas pedals when you want to go. Once you start to roll, it releases the brake. It removes the need to do the quick switch of pedals.
For those who want to adjust or disable it, there are instructions on scoobymods.com to do it.
When I had it, I thought it was a genius idea!

When you stop on a hill, you fully depress the clutch pedal and brake pedal. As long as you keep the clutch fully depressed, braking force is retained by the Hill-Holder System, and you can remove your right foot from the brake pedal without fear of the vehicle rolling backward. When it’s time to go, your right foot will be free to depress the accelerator pedal as you pull away. As you gradually release the clutch, the brakes release automatically.

my clarification is that most men perceive their car as a female. so if i let you or a stranger drive my car, it wouldn't be right because its like two dudes inside one chick. gay. if it was my wife driving with me in it, its sexy because its like a girl-on-girl threesome. get my drift? lol
