why don't you join us? you don't have to be in great shape to be in the hike...this is just the second of the series of hikes that we are doing. eventually we will get to the top of the koolau's...maybe a couple more hikes and then we will hit the Hawaii Loa Ridge hike...i know that one is a beautiful hike...but will be a daylong event.

hey Dom, can you hook us up with parking?

You can park alongside the street in front of and near my house. It would be great if whoever had a van could run a sort of "shuttle" for the rest of us, depending on how many people go. I think theres only like 10-15 stalls at the top where the hiking trail starts.

i know there are at least 10 stalls at the trailhead. but just in case we have more than 4 cars, maybe we can park a couple by your house and we can just jump into like 2 cars or something...just making sure that we will have a good group hike.

i'm also thinking that security might limit the number of cars entering if we don't have a resident hookup...

Yea thats what I mean by shuttle, everyone parks by my house and we all jump into like 2 or 3 cars and go up there. Hmm I have an idea. Everyone can meet me at the park at the bottom of the hill and I'll just tell the security guard to let the 10 subies behind me enter.

same here. I'd never been to this area. Wife and I plan on going. what things should I be getting? I don't have hiking shoes only older cross training shoes. long sleeve shirt? shorts? I'll be bring my camera gear so that'll be heavy and the wife will have our pack of ****. water is a must... I have no clue as to what to expect on this but going for the experience really. we'll most likely have the wifes car since I'm paranoid...

how long will this hike be?

Good place to meet up might be Market City (the little shopping center next to recon), We should meet at the lower side, the side that you can see from Kaimuki High School because more parking than the upper part.

Parking sucks, whenever I go there, I gotta make a couple laps around the parking lot before I get a spot
