HIIC Club Part 3 - Mariner's Ridge
HIIC HIKE Club Part 3
Kaluanui (Mariner's) Ridge Trail
Where: Hawaii Kai
When: June 29, 2008 @ 0815 ***RE-SCHEDULED***
Meet-up: 0800 Hawaii Kai Costco
Description:
Another "quietly popular" of trails for Oahu residents is Kaluanui Ridge (or commonly referred to as Mariner's Ridge because of the name of the residential area it starts in). It starts off as a dusty, shrubby climb ascent out of the residential lots. As you lose sight of the homes (about 15 to 25 minutes into the hike), the trail leads into stands of pine forests which provides nice shelter from the sun. The trail steepens as you close in on the terminus but it never requires hand-over-hand climbing.
What to Expect:
There's nothing freaky about this trail: no cliff-hanging or slippery climbs . The summit tends to be windy so watch your footing!
Expect heavy foot traffic especially late in the weekday as area residents often use it for an exercise route. For this reason, parking in the immediate trailhead location may be limited on busy days.

ted don't worry about it..i know early hour is a hassle for a few guys out here..and don't want to be the vip...no seriously..i know that it's a little hard to wake up when there's things going on..on a friday night mostly you know...so just stick with your original plan.....don't worry about us...there's always next time.... and also, i can't rush myself on saturday as well because we still gotta go and pick up the kids from my parents in town then back to white plains beach going towards the west side....for the party..so we're not going to make it..

Re-scheduled for June 28th! I don't want you guys to miss this out as it is a beautiful hike. I've done this hike more than 6 times already and I still go back to it...
So who's down?
