The driver and passenger both survived. I still can't explain how. I have some better pictures of the internals of the car and it is just amazing. When I got to the scene you couldn't even tell there was a driver in there. He was shoved under the guardrail and unconcsious. The passenger was awake and had no visible injuries other than being in shock and saying over and over that he couldn't believe his friend was dead.

The drivers arm ended up getting slided all the down pretty bad as the guard rail impaled the vehicle and he was careflited away in a helicopter but he had no head trauma. I thought for sure when I got there and saw the top of his head laying on the guardrail that his head got split open. I'm still baffled on how these guys survived. If that would have been me in the car I would have had my head cut off. Why does it seem like the bad guys rarely get the bad end of the deal in accidents?

All you guys who get out of the theater from seeing Fast and the Furious and want to speed around all over the place thinking you are invincible....listen up! You aren't! Stupid actions have stupid endings.

I was running radar on the highway tonight trying to catch a speeder or DWI before my shift was over and I find a car going 26mph over the speed limit. When I pull out to go after it, it tries to run and evade going over 120mph weaving in and out of traffic and various stuff. It finally takes an exit ramp and looses control and runs into a guardrail. As a result, over 80ft. of guardrail impales straight through the car. Here are some pictures from the news coverage below. Keep in mind....that long length of metal guard rail penetrated the car and ran right through the middle totally destroying everything in its way.

The car was a honda civic suped up with racing stickers and all the other ricer goodies. It isn't worth it fellas....
