HELP! Stuck in gear, 2011 WRX

This morning I made a stupid mistake and now feel like I really ****ed something up.
I had parked the car and turned the car. I wasn't thinking and attempted to move the shifter out of gear into neutral without using the clutch and it got stuck. I then attempted to move the shifter with the clutch depressed and would not move. I turned the car on and I could moved forward bit still could not move the shifter out of gear! I don't know if I really ****ed something up by trying to move it out of gear without the clutch but I'm really stressing. Some honest help and advice is greatly appreciated.

check the linkages and fork to see if anything is out of place or binding up. any mods like short shifter or bushings? it's probably something easy so no worries.

Not very familiar with the drivetrain on cars. Where exactly is that located.

Did it grind or clunk when you tried to shift it without depressing the clutch?

Nothing. Car was off and parked. Just attempted to pull into neutral and just stuck. Won't move in any direction period.

I'm guessing you parked on a hill, put it in gear, put parking brake on (weakly), vehicle rolled a little putting 1st into a slight bind.

Start the car, get rolling, (while lightly pushing shifter further into 1st) hit the brake without touching the clutch pedal. Car will stall but should be back to normal after.

I was actually on a flat surface.
But this sounds like it may work. It's like it it's came halfway out of 1st then got stuck. I'm just at a lose till I try this.
