Sounds like a problem Devin who bought my LGT is having,..hitting a wall at 4k, of course no UTEC..

I was told it to be boost leak somewhere I can't find for new owner...Typical vacuum hose were found hanging, but hooked back up with zip ties and still connected after test drive with same problem...Was told it could be a vacuum leak in rubber intake hose to turbo, or double check the silicone hose (FMIC) to throttle body is connected well and no other tears/holes in any other silicone connectors..

Good luck,..

how about boost levels? if you are overboosting then the car runs lean and will cut off like you are stalling in the middle of accelerating. had this problem due to manual boost controller.

Didnt you just sell this car or is this a new WRX? Goodluck, curious to see the problem, I know you'll find it. You got a good team here trying to figure it out with you.

Ah I see now. I'm sorry I missed that, I was exhausted. If you're getting 24 counts of knock lol I'd suggest not doing it very often haha. I guess my next question is, what did you do that started all this knocking? Did it just start out of the blue one day? Did the previous owner do any open source tuning on it?

This is the car I sold and while waiting for the check to clear this happened and I'm trying to fix it so I can complete the deal.

I putlled the timing belt covers and everything is aligned properly so belt never jumped.

I was told that the ecu could be screwed up.

I'm stressin out. I didn't do anything nutz to cause this.

This is full throttle but it will do the same thing no matter what throttle amount.

If you've eliminated all other possible suspects, uh, I guess to check the ECU, you could do generally one of two things.

1. Just just swapping it with another completely stock 02 (maybe 03? - not sure) ECU and see what happens. I would leave the UTEC out of the equation.

2. Using a tactrix cable flash a stock ROM to your ECU. This method wipes it and you'd be flashing the ECU with a stock one like it came from the factory. This is different than just 'reseting' your ECU by disconnecting the battery.

If you dont have a cable and all the software already loaded, Option 1 would be easier and take like 20-30 minutes tops.

I have another ecu but i don't know if its for a wrx or sti it has different numbers on it than my stock one. It came with my utec and was hooked up to a 02 wrx but i think it was flashed and i initially installed it with my utec and it ran like crap but when i installed my stock one it was fine. It was from the guy in makaha that wrecked his built bugeye and parted it out.

Numbers on it are 7e 22611aj030 denso

Maybe i can reflash this ecu, anyone can reflash these things

Anyone willing to lend me an ECU?

I installed my spare ecu that was flashed because even though it was flashed and runs like crap on my car at least maybe i could tell if the car would rev past 5k rpm... IT DID!

I think this whole problem was my ECU!
I need help either flashing my ECU back to stock or locating a new one.

Thanks a lot for everyones help.
