Question Help..Possible rear wheel bearing **** the bed!!!

Okay I was out cruising the other day and took a right hand turn and heard this awful growl from the back wheel.I went into the parking lot and it only happens on right turns and deff from the back passenger tire well.I got i home put on jacks and nothing is rubbing.i also checked the wheel for any play everything is tight.Than I took out my stethoscope was listening to the hub for any foreign sounds when the car was in drive but heard nothing.I'm thinking it might only happen when the bearing is under a load?? We'll i can't think of anything else before I just buy a new bearing and install.Anybody else have any suggestions or had this happen before?? By the way it's my 04 Sti...Thanx any suggestions!!!

When my wheel bearing went bad, you could hear the wheel spinning from inside the car, a whirring type of sound, above 20MPH. Got louder with speed. This might be something else.

Subaru oem wheel bearings have issues.

I worked for toyota and BMW, I replaced maybe 3 wheel bearings in a 4 year period (working on cars full time). I have put like 10 wheel bearings in subarus in the past 4 years (just working on them a little)

I use the bearings from checkers...they have to be better than the oem crap ones.

Yes, you have to press them in. They are a PITA!

I did one...I hated it!

never on a sti.

I'm sure they have to be pressed out and back in though. Get a new seal but reuse the snap ring.

Purchase the bearing.

Remove the hub and take it to a ghetto non dealer shop. You should be able to get the bearing pressed for a few dollars.

My A/C and press guy that hooked me up for nearly nothing worked at the dodge place in waipahu that closed. So I dont know where to send you for your needs at the moment.

Mist the strut and hub connecting area with a little white paint. Then mark the bolts to re-align properly. (this will save you from having to do an alignment)

If you are military...I think the hobby shop has a press. It should be a 2 hour job with the right tools.
