Hawaiian Music
Since the weather over here in CA is getting nice, it's time to roll down the windows and jam to some relaxing (and at time up beat) Hawaiian Music.
So here's where I'm asking you guys for some help. As old school as it may sound I enjoy music similar to Brother IZ, and Hapa (don't laugh). Because I've listened to them for so long now they're about on their last breath replaying in my stereo. I'm hoping you guys can recommend some other good Hawaiian Albums out there. There's a place here in San Jose, that carries Hawaiian Music so I'm sure if it's not too new they'll have it.
I appreciate the feedback!!

for some kinda old school hawaiian/island style music
try Kapena - they've been around for decades (although missing some "og" members.
for some young and upcoming try koa uka.
if u want traditional style with a new voice try amy hanaialii(sp?)
some classic brothers cazimero is good too

Thanks!! My brother has a couple of Kapena albums...something about it doesn't get me to sit and listen to it...I'll try and bum it off him again, maybe i'm missing something. I'll look for what you guys mentioned. I basically just want something that makes me feel like i'm on the islands
I just have to make sure I print these names out. Lord knows I'll never be able to remember them.

Besides, the Hawaiian music CD's, you may want to invest on a couple of "Da Braddahs" DVD. At the end of each show, they showcase upcoming bands and they perform their hit single. You can see our local humor with a flavor of music, pick it up it's hilarious. Hopefully, they have it in San Jose.
You can try these CD's:
Pure Heart
Ka'u
Pati
Opihi Pickers

More traditional Hawai'ian music:
Na Palapalai
Ho'okena
Gabby Pahinui
Aunty Genoa
Dennis Pavao
Nathan Aveau
More contemporary (Jawaiian):
Ekolu
Three Plus
Fiji
Ten Feet
Ka'u Crater Boys
That's all I can think of for now in addition to what the others guys said.
Hey Bev, if you want some Hawai'ian music, I've got a small collection. Feel free to have Tommy call me if he's going out to a SF/DC meet and I'll try burn you some stuff. Or if you're gonna be at Mt. Hammy, I can get it to you or Tommy then.
