hawaii i-club members to the rescue! PLS

ok i am new to subies and I am having a very weird problem.
driving down a smooth straight road at 5mph my car will sorta woble (best term i can come up with for the feeling) and if i get above 40mph the car begins to shake and vibrate really bad and it just keeps getting worse the faster you go.
all tire pressure is good
just had the tires balanced
just got alighnment done
i jacked the car up (front and rear) there is no play (up, down or side to side) on any of the tires
I am running all stock suspension, the only different thing is that i have stock sti suspension on a wrx which was installed a month ago and the problem has been getting worse over the last week.
if i hit the brakes the problem doesnt get better or worse

any help would be awsome.
i intend on getting the rims rebalanced and the alignment redone this next week. but if there is anything yall have seen or heard of that would cause this pls let me know. any help is very appreciated.

did you have a aligment done before or after the sti susp install? also could be loose lug nuts causing the tires to do the wobble wobble

just re read that you just checked to see if the tires were loose....... the other thing could be that you hit a pothole recently and that could throw it off...... also any of your tires have a airbubble in it? i know my federals at the time had a huge bubble in them. another thing could be did you remember to tighten the top & lower strut bolts?

did you have this problem before the suspension install and it's just gotten worse or it only started after you put it on? when you say there is no play up down or side to side, how did you check this? does it seem to come more from the front, back, or both. sounds like you've checked all the easy stuff. don't waste money on another alignment, it's not that. could be an unbalanced wheel or bad wheel bearing. could also be a bad control arm bushing. gonna be tough to track down without seeing it first hand and getting dirty. agreed with sleeper on wheel bearing going out. It very much sounds like your culprit.

I think the up/down wobble check would expose the bad bearings. Left/right wobble exposes bad tie rods.

I suspect damaged or unbalanced wheel(s) or something's up with the tires.

If not, then perhaps the alignment.

from your description i am going to have to say it's a tire issue. you wouldnt feel lots of other possible problems at 5mph. other than maybe the drive shaft carrier bearing, but that would have a noise also.

tires have belts (nylon or steel strands) hidden under the rubber for strength. if you hit something rather hard that is sharp enough, you can break a few of these belts. it is sometimes very hard to see by eye.

and if the guys that balance your tires are ghetto and use a bubble balancer (basically a level) they will not notice either.

always make sure to have your tires balanced at a shop that uses nice equipment that can do road force speed balance. it should look like this http://www.hunter.com/pub/company/ne...GSP9700LFM.jpg the cylinder behind the contact surface of the tire presses down against the tire with about 800 lbs of force to simulate the weight of the vehicle actually on the tire.

i dont have any visibal bubbles
the alignment was done after the sti supsension swap
i had the suspension on there for about 2weeks before i noticed the problem
i dont remember going over any pot hole
when i had the car jacked up i grabbed the tire and would try to move it up and down or side to side to see if i have any play, which i got none
how do i check the rear diff bushings and the outrigger bushings or wheel bearings?
if any one could come and help me figure this out, tomorrow i will be at the navy hobby shop outside of pearl harbor all afternoon till probly around 6 or 7 pm pls text me if you could swing by and take a look 808-277-4988. the car will be on a 2 post lift so it will be easy to see anything. thanks again for all the help
