What cel code are you getting? I'd have a cel on a daily basis as my stock downpipe O2 sensor isn't hooked up. I turned it off and see a cel if I see knock. Post up more details and you'll get more answers. I'd also post on the "other" site as it's more timely. Lastly, everyone will tell you to ditch the AEM intake because it will make you run lean. I had one with a wideband and can assure you everything was normal, even under "San" conditions (drive it like you stole it X 10). CAI = lean is a myth in my opinion. But how many that claim this have a wideband O2 sensor? It puzzles me as they aren't terribly expensive and are far more important for tuning. Mileage varies, just my $0.02.

p0171 (engine too lean). is it just the AEM intake in particular that does this? should i get a different sensor for it? i am picking up jons accessport at the meet tomorrow, he is gracious enough to unmarry it before he gets his new stuff which is awesome, and i am hoping that will help the problem. i dont have the stock airbox, i bought the car with the AEM intake already installed. if you need more info just ask, im not sure what else would help. thanks all.

Find a way to return to a stock air intake. It does a great job of feeding in cool air from outside the engine compartment to the engine. I had the same situation. I bought my 02 WRX with a short intake like yours and constantly got the same CEL you are getting and after replacing o2 sensors I finally ran into a Subaru Guru who returned the stock air box w/o resonator and the cel went away. I have since installed a resonator eliminator "elbow" in the fender well and it runs great!

Sup San!

Agreed on the CAI myth. But his is a short ram intake and in order for him to diagnose the problem since he doesn't know where to begin is to start with what you know and don't know.

ok... me being the super noob i am. what is CAI? also im not really familiar with the term wideband sensor. is it a replacement for the MAF sensor or a different 02 sensor? so what you are saying jon is i should try a stock airbox and see if the problem goes away first?

CAI = Cold Air Intake

Wideband 02 is a type of sensor that will tell you the readings of the sensor so that you can tune your cars air to fuel ratio.

The AP's maps are tuned in mainland conditions so when you use the maps here you'll run more rich than they intended due to our altitude.

NO

don't get confused here. just install the accessport and you'll be happen.

The stock airbox provides more consistent MAF readings compared to an Ram Intake or Cold Air Intake system.

According to the mods you have you'll use the stage 2 map that is already on the Accessport as the base map. please read the instructions on cobbs website before doing so though so you know what YOU are doing

lol, this stupid CEL just wont die. on the way home from the cruise it came on again. this of course being after switching to the stage 2 map 91oct with the accessport. i am happy to report the car seems to be running better than ever and is noticably stronger and faster with boost building earlier. however, the light is bugging the crap outta me.... i pulled the code which was the same one P0171 (system too lean). I then reset the ecu with the AP and drove to my wifes work thinking maybe it was still learning but it came on again with the same code. 02 sensor maybe? let me know what you guys think. the light seems to be coming on with more and more frequency. thanks.

How many miles are on the car? have you changed the fuel filter yet?

It's possible that it could be the 02 sensor but you may wanna check your connections to both front and rear 02 sensors first before replacing them.

read a couple of other forums and a lot of people are saying after they installed their AEM short ram or other similar short rams they received the same CEL.

most say that removing it and putting back to stock completely takes care of the problem.

I would see if you could borrow one from someone and see if it resolves the issue.

there is another guy though that had an intake installed and after 50k then started getting the CEL that you are getting. no resolve as of yet but he's going to pull off the intake that he has

further if you there was one guy that had a faulty fuel pump and filter.

I would check this thread out: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=475620
