didnt get it yet, still waiting for the sellers to pm me back. i hope so soon. the cleaner stuff might help but i dont want to wait till monday to try and fix it, it takes away from the enjoyability of the cruise. the other problem is one of the screws for the sensor is partially stripped and i dont know if i can get it undone, especially with a weak arm.... sigh. im gonna try takin it to vakamon today and see if they have any advice. ill let ya know.

:(
cwap.... well thanks for lettin me know dan. im gonna go test the car again. i cleaned the MAF sensor and double checked everything else. so here goes nothin... any other ideas for when this fails would be sweet. i have changed the plugs twice, gap testing both times (im using NGK irridiums). i switched back to the stock BOV and now ive cleaned the MAF. everything is fine, even if i drive the car hard but the light always comes on when i am cruisin at 60 in 5th gear. last night it came on again on the way home from the meet and i wasnt using cruise control so its not that. *sigh* so yea im out to test drive, so wish me luck.

...well after a 35 mile drive to honolulu and back i thought the problem might be solved. but on the way to the beach with the wifey it came on again. i went to vakamon and had em pull the code and it came up p0171 (engine too lean) which is what it said when i had the other mechanic pull it last week. so my only conclusion is that its one of two things. the O2 sensor is bad (which seems unlikely or it wouldnt have noticed its too lean) or i just need to get my stinkin accessport so i can be cool like ted. so im gonna go surf the forums now and see if i cant get one ordered.

ok what mods do you have. I'm not sure of any previous threads that stated your official problem but since your going through it again in this thread it might be a good time to refresh everyones memory that might be able to help you.
so back to the original question... what mods do you have on your car?

first off remove your AEM intake that can cause your car to run leaner than normal. Is it a CAI or a regular SRI?
Have you reset the computer rather than clearing the code? The larger top mount will also cause you to run leaner without a proper tune. same goes for the intake.
some cars are more sensitive than others (same as people ).
how is your catch can installed. please post pictures. if it is installed wrong that can lean out your engine as well.

if you haven't reset the computer yet..
remove the negative terminal from the battery (-) and then push and hold the brake peddle down until your mileage disappears.

what are the other mods do you have
Jon
- Regarding your MAF sensor... whats exactly wrong with it. Is it that the screws aren't tight enough since the threads are stripped or is it that the screw head is stripped so you cannot remove it.

its been properly reset twice by the OBD scanners and a couple times by doin the battery thing. i dont have the origional parts to swap out, this is how i bought the car. i dont think there is anything really wrong, i think it just needs a tune. here are some pics.

ok understood regarding the parts...
the fact that your ECU is sending a CEL is telling you that there IS something wrong. yes, you do need a tune in order to properly run the things you have on the car now. The accessport was NOT designed to run with an intake. They recommend you run the factory air box since intake systems cause inconsistant MAF readings. Technically there is NOTHING wrong with the setup just the fact that your ECU doesn't know how to handle the readings it's getting from your engine setup. The stock ECU has a set of parameters and since you're getting a CEL code or more than 1 CEL code means that they are either above or below the valid parameters. In your case it's probably below. Lean means that your engine is getting TO MUCH AIR to fuel.
I replied to your thread about an AccessPort let me know if you're interested. other people have sold it for more. Its been used twice to flash and a couple times to change real time maps so no ware and tear. Cobb reflash the firmware and I only use it to read CEL codes. It will be a shame to let go of it but I think I have no choice on the matter due to the new setup.
