Looks like it for now... Hopefully another company will invest in them and restructure to match the changing economic climate in japan... Unfortunately it doesn't look good, the tuning industry in the home market and abroad is shrinking and getting investors for a shrinking market is kinda hard...
People don't care about knock offs as much any more, and with price being a major point in making a purchase, alot of people go with fakes instead... The sad part is, the original companies are the ones creating parts for us... the knock off companies are just copying them and making money off others work... Now that may seem well and good, but remember this, those companies which copy the good stuff, don't know anything about making the good stuff.

What?! Wow, it sux to hear such a great company go down the ****ter because of Knock-Offs taking the market away from them. But lets be honest, we can't blame them totaly. I admit, original companys like Greddy do deserve all the credit in the world for creating there great designs. But I give just as much credit to some (Not all) knock off companys for taking that original design, maintaining the quality of the original, and producing it for a much lower cost, and passing those saving to the consumer.
Now, I admit....I'm guilty of buying knock off parts, most of us here are. A great example is ROTA Wheels and Kakumei. IMO, As long as the knock off are just as great or better in quality as the real deal, I don't see any negative reason why not to buy them. Fraction of the cost , looks the same, proforms the same, and is built with the same or better quality. It's a no brainer which one to buy, considering today's economy. Unless you have a large income.

My problem with "passing on the savings" is that they're not developing the parts... Alot of the cost of manufacturing new parts goes into R&D, paying people with nice engineering degrees and nice shiny equiptment and dynos to go out and design a new exhaust, intake, cams, body parts etc. These people design a working part from nothing but an idea... That's part of why you're paying more. These knock off part makers are only picking up sales because they don't have the overhead and cost of creating a new part, they just copy someone elses work and sell it for cheaper. A factory full of underpaid workers cost less than a factory full of underpaid workers, an engineering department, and tuning equiptment. That's where your savings comes from, not some altruistic goodwill from a guy in china...
Btw, there is no way in hell rota wheels are better then work or the volks that they copy... I also haven't seen a knock off part yet that is better in workmaship or quality than the original. I know that everyone's out to save a buck, so they will do what they feel is best for them... Of course, bad economy + buyers buying replica parts from other distributors can mean death to a legitimate company... thus one less innovator in the industry.
And there is a cure for high prices... Save money before making a purchase.
