Why can't you guy's use STis? I mean, I know it has to be at least 6 cylinders but why? STis would eat most 6 cylinders for snack, even a lot of V8s. I don't understand. It would be mean to see an STi as a patrol car.

other than their "chop shop"(by the airport) having the availability to add the radio equipment, lights etc.... the cars have to be authorized (and on a list) - the main concern is having a place for all the equipment... i'm sure reliabilty is not an issue- but keep in mind that most cops start their car maybe 10-15 times in one shift- they patrol for miles and miles(or at least some do... u might find a couple at a school for a little while !) to me it would make sense to authorize some imports(sport compacts) - for they would blend in nicely with the public-

maybe HPD still has an old school philosophy when it comes to cars- which i think is slowly changing- in colorado they are using STi's for the highway patrol... maybe hawaii will be next....

my friend has an SS, and after riding in my car- he admits that if a chase occured that an STi would be gone!(except on a freeway)-

an STi would make sense- 6 spd(like SS) japanese reliabilty, comfortable seats(more comfy than a G35 or SS!) and plenty of room in the bumper area for lights/sirens!

Now that I live here (in Colorado, that is) allow me to put the rumors (supported by pictures, no less) about the STi (s) in the Colorado State Patrol (CSP).

If you go to www.awdpirates.net you will find a guy that goes by the name of Moto. He is some sort of photographer for the CSP. A while back, they dressed up his car with full stickers and lights and did a mock photo shoot of him busting some ricers. I believe there are 4 different pictures of the same shoot floating around the internet supporting peoples claims that CSP has STi's.

They don't.

This isn't me talking out my ***, I go to trivia with him (when I can make it), up to Pikes Peak last year, a couple of meets here and there, and a few other times.

Colorado does not have STi's on their police force. Despite what un-photochopped pics you can scare up on the internet. This has gone so far that one of the British car mags did an article about "The STi's in Colorado" complete with pictures.
