Getting new apartment, moving in with fiancee... Furniture, etc?

Aloha All,

My fiancee is going to be arriving in Hawaii at the end of January (crosses fingers) and I am currently nest building. I have a new apartment (decent sized 1BR in downtown Honolulu) that I am trying to put together and get ready/livable before she arrives.

I've been a bachelor for so long that everything I have is geared toward just me (my tastes, the sizing, etc.) and I need to update it all.

Anybody have hints/tips/tricks to where I can purchase reasonable but nice/mature/quality furniture?

I'm looking for:

1. Queen Bed and the trimmings
2. Couch (fold out)
3. TV (thinking a ~37" LCD HDTV) & stand
4. Vacuum Cleaner, Iron, etc.
5. Linens
6. Kitchenware
7. Etc.

I'm going to try and keep the purchases to a minimum because I figure she's going to want to have a say in anything other than the bare essentials as far as style/etc. goes.

Help?

Thanks in advance!
Rich

She may just want to change everything anyway... my fiancee would help you do shopping on your budget, lol.

but uh, city mill has decent dressers, tables, etc wood thing with legs.

couches.... errrr... dont know...

Vaccume, etc. sears is not a bad place, costco has alot of random stuff.

Ross is a decent place for linnes as you can get high quality stuff for cheap.

Good luck.

Dysons are really good, so much so, it was actually sucking my carpet from the floor!!!

After 13 years living with my lady, one small piece of advice, clear your apartment out, then go shopping with her, so that she can feel at home in your place, means you won't waste money on stuff she doesn't like, and also some brownie points for being thoughtful,

trust me, it works everytime!!!!

Thanks for the input, everyone.

I'm going to have to habitate in this place for more than a month before she arrives so I'm going to have to buy SOME stuff without her. lol. I'll keep it to a minimum though.

I'm planning on a big *** TV, an XBOX360, and a bed. She can pick the rest.

You just missed the Ashley auction, heard some nice stuff went for decent prices..

Inspiration is having a floor clearance sale, they're redoing the setup so everything is going out at decent prices, little over priced, but modern and stylish..mattresses on sale, too

Get the new Pioneer Elite, does 1080P, finally..., the sickness with your 360 & HDDVD

I have the Pioneer PDP-5065 nice black border finish, strong colors..colors not as nice as the Panasonic, but look sway more P$MP.....

anyway GL, don't skimp on the TV.....

Word...otherwise just WAIT FOR HER to come.

Its a nice bonding moment when you go and buy your first furniture and stuff (for me it was so she could see how Chinese I really am ).

On a lighter note...they're opening an IKEA store near where we live! Yay!

My first major purchases in quite some time that have nothing to do with cars.

Now I can't afford furniture. lol
