Exclamation Fyi

Hey guys...not too sure if you guys heard about this...I got this from my ex-co-workers at the Pearl Harbor Commissary...idk...but I'd rather be safe than sorry...

On February 1, the city and county of Honolulu will launch a 30-day speeding ticket frenzy. The city estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay police overtime. There will be 50 police on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main thoroughfares.

They are the following:
H-3 both directions
H-2 both directions
H-1 both directions
Pali Hwy
Likelike Hwy
Nimitz Hwy
Kalanianaole Hwy
Kam Hwy
Farrington Hwy

Now 5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every officer is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked cruisers and they are bringing all their part timers on full time.

yeah but this time it's not a camera, it's actually a police officer..............and technically if you are over the speed limit you are speeding, so there is no real reason to complain. My only gripe is that the speed limits here are insanely SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!

I didn't know we had part timers in HPD.............interesting.

Nah actually I love to drive slow on the freeway. About 3am is a good time to drive 50-55mph for 25 miles at a time.

Other then that, driving 55mph almost any other time is like driving out of louisiana in a 70mph zone. ahah..

I think I saw on the news once, there was a surveyor on the road, radar-ing people and calculated 90% of the people were speeding. Pretty funny. Nonetheless, this is a good way to create revenue.. maybe that new track will become less harder to push through?

i don't mind going 55mph but some places are like 45mph when it should be 60mph like the h3 and other places also

Now if the City and County would only put that kind of effort into other crimes such as auto theft and other property crimes!! Not meant to be an insult to the Police (they are just doing their job), but rather to our mis-guided and clueless government that directs this kind of stuff.

hmm, looks like they aim to make more money rather than change the attitude of speeders. from what it looks like, the more speeders, the better for them. they are expecting 9 million from that ish...

Red face

I think they already started. Just the other day while I was leaving Waikele Shopping Mall hoping on to the Freeway, I saw two solo bikers on both sides of the freeway townbound and Kapolei bound. Also earlier during this week, I seen alot of 5-0's pulling over people especially heading towards my parents house in Waianae between Hakimo Rd. down to Maili. So in conclusion, Im pretty sure they've already got it going. Also I notice there are alot more interceptors(HPD's supercharged- no governor/rev limiter black camaro's) on the road now. Very scarry. does it mean that people are street racing again?

street racing is going to skyrocket after the track closes, resulting in more accidents and deaths (hopefully not). this anti-speeding rush is stupid and innefective. they need to focus more on the serious crimes and not JUST speeding. its ineffective because people will just avoid these roads if at all possible. i know i will not be driving at all if i can help it.
