Fine dining on O'ahu
Hello everybody! I wanted your opinions on the best fine dining establishment on the island. I've been thinking of Alan Wong's, 3660 on the Rise, and Chef Mavro. If you've been to any of these places, what do you think? Any other suggestions? I'm looking for top caliber, fine dining. Much mahalo's!
Oh, and is there a dress code for any of these restaurants? Like no shorts or rubbah slippah or da kine? Maybe like aloha shirt and slacks yeah? Thanks!

Ha ha ha...ok I will put them in order and give a little blurb for each.
1. John Dominis...Awesome oceanfront view, great food, expensive...best place in town IMO. Local/Contemporary cuisine...get the lobster but it is gonna cost you big time.
2. Hy's Steakhouse...Elegant place in Waikiki, Waitstaff is dressed up, food is great if you get Steak or the warm spinach salad which is prepared in front of you...also expensive but not as much as JD...Steakhouse cuisine with some local dishes as well...Filet Mignon is recommended.
3. Le Guignol...French Prix Fixe (is that what it is?) style restaurant where you order a whole 3-4-5 course meal. Food is awesome especially the Escargot and the dessert...my family friend owns the place and is the Chef. $40-$60 per person bring your own bottle of wine.
4. Hoku's...at the Kahala Mandarin Hotel...very nice eclectic place...OCEAN VIEW...International cuisine...contemporary atmosphere at Honolulu's 2nd best hotel.
5. 21 Degrees North...at the Turtle Bay Resort out North Shore side...Island cuisine with a bit of French.
6. Top of Waikiki...It's on this flying saucer thingie that spins as you eat. It's cool and the food is good. More of a novelty if anything. Kinda like the space needle but with food and spinning.
7. La Mer...at the Halekulani...gotta wear a jacket if you go...southern french cuisine.
WILD CARD
Haleiwa Joe's at Ha'iku Gardens in Kaneohe...this place is beautiful with it's own view overlooking a garden and a big pond with a gazebo where people get married. This is my new best place because no one knows about it and it is just great! Food is good too...

Car Info: 2008 Legacy 3.0R 3L H-6 RIP :( Hello 09 FXT!
i ate at hy's. very nice. food quality is good and $$$. and i like the service very much. they make you feel welcome unlike other restaurants (all stuck up). john domini's has awesome filet mignon. like butter. service is okay. went to these places for family dinners.
imo you get what you pay for. personally i don't really care where the food came from ($$$restaurants or the cheap take out). i believe if your host/waitress/waitor has great service/social skills and puts love/pride in what they do, your whole feel of that restaurant is a positive feeling.
